[Edit: it's happened. I've lost track of what day it is and assume a steady downhill from here]
Monday Tuesday Roundup!

1. Picked up coral at Calikid. Great people. Love their tanks. Nice Kessil AP9s making everything look nice. From the auctions I won: A) platygyra - check: B) splatter bubble coral - died, replaced with a big chunk of the mother colony; C) diaseris - died, got a really awesome shroom instead; D) elegance - check, amazing, I hope it lives, was absolutely stunning in their tank; E) miami vice zoas - check plus, got an extra two polyps (6er instead if a 4er). Then the mystery box came with two zoas, two favias, two acans and two gonis. Can't wait to see what they are!

2. Dialed in the flow to the tank and back to the sump. Feeling a LOT more optimistic about it than yesterday. AIOs are still the best.

3. Found a leak in the return pipe. Have to buy some wide teflon tape and redo that one...

4. Put the corals in the new tank. Didn't get around to transferring anything from the 40, but did get some dragons breath and Caulerpa peltata from the 10. Also ripped out a salad bowl full of Caulerpa from the 10g. The zoas beneath it were mostly dead or shriveled up. That stuff is *invasive*!

5. Went to see Dogman movie with the clones. Seats fully reclined. Missed the middle third. Ate a lot of Oreo Popcorn, which I didn't know was a thing, but had already agreed to get the kids a treat, and that's what they picked. I now hate myself.

Instead of GFO, have you considered granulated aluminum oxide (GAO)? I made the switch about a year ago and it, IMO, works way better.
No I have not......skuttles off to Google. Assume better for the Tangs?

I'm not sure, actually. I have never had an issue with GFO or carbon causing HLLE in my tangs and I run media 24/7/365. I'm about to take The Hans for his morning constitutional, but then it will be my turn to skuttle off to Google to do some research. I'll get back to you on that.

Good news! The new corals have started opening up! I turned the Orphek on to give them some energy, but I won't be leaving it on for long today.

Let's start with the best. The new elegance is awesome. This is a real centerpiece coral. I hope it survives.

Next, the bubble coral still has a way to go with recovery after being fresh cut yesterday:

Here's my miami vice, couldn't get a good shot:

And the two mystery zoas:

Next a magic-carpet-like shroom:

Platy:

Acans:

This one not looking super great, but lighting makes it look worse than it actually is (under heavy blues, the grown parts show up nice):

And the gonis, who may not be long for this world if past serves as precedent (@steveschuerger @Reefing_addiction might need some advice on keeping these alive!)

Just give the Gonis decent flow and don’t blind them with light initially. What are your readings/params right now? Gonis like.some nitrate in the water.

Jojo should’ve gone with the IM AOI. Just sayin. The 20 I set up has no leak spots ;) When I have the opportunity to go larger again it’ll probably be IM or WaterBox AIO. And your light that you sent will be here tomorrow I believe. I’m hoping to try a few inexpensive Acros once again after it’s in place. As well as a Goni or two.

Moved the corals around and got a few better shots:

Teal goni, I suppose:
1738789030546.jpeg

Some other type of mystery goni:
1738789117171.jpeg

Seems to be this Yellow Eye Goni:
1738792800047.png

Got a decent pic of the mystery zoas. The first looks like a "stratocaster-like" zoa (unfortunate since I already have stratocasters)
1738792864116.jpeg

1738792877256.jpeg

Looks more like this:
1738792908039.png

Than the chiquitas:
1738792935400.png

Although they are really similar.

This second mystery zoa, I have no idea what it is, shown under three light spectra:
1738793238222.jpeg

1738793248100.jpeg

1738793300865.jpeg

I think this will be my thread of the day!

Also got a better shot of the Miami Vice:
1738793461371.jpeg

which I think look better under whites:
1738793478615.jpeg

Perhaps not that white.

Shroom:

Montis:
Beach bum, probably:
1738793560273.jpeg

Don't know what this is, but the camera doesn't capture the colors. Looks monotone, but in person it's like a smooth rainbow:
1738793610794.jpeg

Acans:
1738793640369.jpeg

This one slightly better for the red one:
1738793654990.jpeg

And that's it for now. Probably better get to work on prepping the rest of the tank...!
