When I first started, I used a 5 gallon watering jug and mixed kalkwasser at maximum saturation, following the instructions. To avoid pulling in the kalk slurry, I positioned the dosing line 2 inches off the bottom of the jug and used a dosing pump. I began with a slow dose of 100ml per day, spread over 24 hours, and tested alkalinity daily to determine if the amount was too much, too little, or just right for maintaining stability. Once stable, I switched to weekly alkalinity testing to monitor trends. Over the course of a year, I gradually increased the dose to 1400ml per day, matching my tank’s evaporation rate in a 40 gallon cube.

Start slow, start low, and always TEST, TEST, TEST!

Use a kalk calculator and play around with the concentration and amount to add each day to sustain the calc and alk drop per day. Test daily and see if you need to make micro adjustments to your solution's concentration or the amount to add each day.
