This started happening not too long after I set up my new fish tank. What should I do? image.jpg

It needs more flow, its needs the flow to help it stand up and to shed. I see only one powerhead in that big tank, it might benefit from another on the opposite side.

It also needs nutrients, that looks like a brand new sterile tank.

What kind of nutrients would you recommend? I have a petco near by that’s open. My local lfs is closed till Tuesday. I plan on ordering another power head next week. The water is def more sterile with some water and live rock from my old tank.

You need to maintain nitrate and phosphate, or everyone starves including the micro fauna.

Test for both. Your looking at keeping nitrate 2-5ppm and phosphate at 0.05 for SPS and up to 0.15ppm for softies.

Never let either go zero, pest stuff likes zeroes.

These nutrients (and other dissolved organics) feed both the system critters and the corals.

Thanks for the advice man! I’m going from a 75g non drilled tank to a 90g drilled and I’m still ordering and setting everything up. I’m planning on adding a hydros dosing device next week.

You got time, they take forever to die. In the meantime, you can use a turkey baster to gently blow off any shedding or detritus buildup.
