So for a little while I’ve been “struggling” to get my nitrates down under 20.. currently (27.5) by Hannah …

I used to use rowa to use keep my p04 low (0.03-0.05) but currently switched it off for a week as I’ve set up a refugium running Chaeto running opposite my light schedule

And manage n03 with just water changes

So today I’ve tested my tank -

P04 -0.15
No3 27.5 ppm

But here is what I don’t understand my tank and coral has never looked so good !! Littrely seeing new growth daily and everything sps/lps is looking big and bright -and full polyp extension.

Should I still chase them 0.03 and between 5-10 numbers or just leave it ?? And see what happens … I don’t want anything to die ?

Opinions please

Current tank 400L water box 110.4

Alk 8.1
Cal 430-440
Nitrate 27.5
P04 0.15

I have always gone with how the corals look and if I am getting "nuisance" algae as a barometer for nutrient levels. If the corals are happy as stated by basically everyone above leave it be. We are told constantly "dont chase numbers" or "these are the numbers you need to be at" If it works in your reef then it works. All these glass boxes are different, they are not the ocean what works in one place might not work in another.
