Lucky to live near Islamorada Fl. a pristine area in Key West where a couple vendors harvest Florida aquacultured live rock. The waters here are teeming with Micro Fauna. This is also an area where Natural Sea Water is collected for the majority of LFS in south fl. During low tide many amphipods and other critters get trapped in tide pools. The sand crawls with lifeforms. My fish LOVE the amphipods here. I can attest that these pods will survive our tank conditions i.e temperature salinity. This is biodiversity straight from a coral reef. Just got my Rec. saltwater fishing license and im ready to bag up some amphipods for youre refugium and fish

I would look into the proper documentation to harvest and sell live marine animals. Its not legal with a recreation fishing license. You could start at myfwc.com and get a salt water products license. Then try to acquire the proper permits. Please look further into attaining the correct license.
Based on your post you could be charged criminally and possibly fined. Florida has very strict laws for harvest, sale, wholesale and retail of marine life.

I'd check again, amphipods are listed as a marine life species requiring a commercial saltwater collection permit with a marine life endorsement.

Do a search for amphipods on the myfwc website.

I appreciate youre concern but please take your own advice and do a search. I am not harvesting for wholesale or commercial purposes. This is recreational. There is a long list of prohibited species in florida and amphipods is NOT on the list. My 9-5 job is to harvest live rock here. The company i work for leases acres of coast line where they deploy dry rock and harvest live rock years later. This is all done legally with FWC oversight.

sorry if i came off as rude i know you are just sharing knowledge. Im not advertising any company on the forum but please look into liveRockUsa this is the employer stationed in islamorada. They have all necessary permits if push came to shove. This is hobbyist to hobbyist. Im not trying to open the next biggest "shrimp bussiness" haha

I will say that after this sale i will attempt to culture my own pods with a starter pack from the keys.

Unwanted hitch hikers seems to be the concern of most inquires.

I'll set up a 2 liter hatchery along with my phyto and document results!

Collecting is legal but sale is strictly 100% not without a commercial license. Unless you are giving these away it ceases to be recreational once money changes hands. Be careful with this. Just because it’s pods doesn’t make it any different than if I were selling red snapper out of the back of my car.
