I have no good family, all my own family I've stopped contact with, and the husbands family was awesome, but both parents have passed, so now we are good family-less. Which then makes all get-together type holidays pretty quiet. We don't go anywhere, no one comes over. I still cook a big dinner, but it's easy and painless. Honestly I really like it, I remember getting hauled around when I was a kid and it wasn't always the fun times.


Anywho, a very happy Thanksgiving to all the cronies! Hug your loved ones tight.

I finally broke my husband and adopted a kitty. Kids are head over heels in love and she is a perfect Miss Kitty. Husband is like, wow, it's a cat (Eyeroll).... Doggo likes new fren too.

Kitty thinks the doggo kennel is nice. 10/10 would cat here again. Just water though, chonky dog doesn't leave any food behind.

She's got full reign of our upstairs loft, it's just storage mostly but it's quiet and dog free since those stubby legs and stairs don't mix.

Story time

Several years ago I did a bunch a research for an artificial Christmas tree, considered many, compared them all. Finally settled on one from Michael's crafty store. Even went farther than my closest town. It was beautiful. Pre lit led so if one bulb goes out the rest stay lit, amazing right? Second year, plug it in, one section of the tree is flickering. Traced to a broken wire, fixed. But by the time Christmas happened, it was back to intermittently working. Third year I buy a new string of LED lights. Took all the old lights off, painstakingly hour after hour. Took a couple days. Then I re strung the new lights and reused the little green clips that held the original lights so they were going to stay. Now at this point a 3 piece tree now strung with only one continuous strand. Worked great until it didn't. The lights I got from Amazon did not last even a full season. 2 days after Christmas I decided I hate this tree and it goes to the dump this time. I usually keep my tree up from a few days after Thanksgiving to the first of the year. But I tossed the dang tree right after Christmas.

Now this year. I forgot I got mad at the tree and threw it away. Go to Walmarts website last night, pick out a random tree, no real research, just saw in stock and ordered. Supposed to pick up today. NOPE, SAYS WALMART! Oh I'm sorry your order is out of stock, we can ship you one, but we don't know when. CANCEL ORDER. Sure thing, but we'll hold your money for 10 days. MUAHAHA.

Going to home Depot today instead. Our little valley doesn't have many options, only 1 Walmart and it's awful, always out of stock on so many things, even way before the economy tanked. We used to have Shopko and Kmart but those died a while ago and I miss those stores so much. No Target, unless I drive to another town 30 minutes north of this one, so and hour and a half from my home.

Walmart out here ruining the Christmas spirit.

Real trees dry out too fast, even with daily watering. I'd need an ATO in there, lol. Our placement for a tree is in front of the pellet stove so it's blasted with hot air 24hrs a day. Well, 10' away, but close enough to be like the dang Sahara for the tree. I do have a tiny tree I dug up from the woods, I thought about just decorating that one, but the kids laughed at my 10" tree. I was going to 3d print a star and some ornaments for it if I get the time.

HomeDepot had a tree. Not quite as spectacular as I wanted, but kiddos are happy, and I don't care if it doesn't last 10 years. Although it did have a 3-year warranty, even for the lights. So I kept the receipt with the warranty card info. We'll see.....

Anywho. Hoping I can get some tanky things done today. Hoping to leak test the bulkheads and work on drain plumbing. Also need to build a lid, since now there is kitty trouble and she definitely loves the tanks!

We have this little - idk 2 or 3 ft - tree that has a single bulb in the stand and the fiber optic strands throughout it. We've had it for over 10 years and replaced the single bulb once (2 years ago). Worth it.

Haha, nope. Have everything to do it but the motivation or time. I'm driving up to Spokane today (6 hours of driving, yay ) for kids dental appts, my oldest needs braces so we're doing a cleaning before his first braces appt. Think I'll make him wait till after Christmas though to get the hardware on, aren't I nice...

I keep planning on tank things then I gets so busy with non tank things.

I have been chipping away at both my secret Santa picks though, the regular one is getting a couple 3d printed things, and a towel I'll make (already designed, just need to cut and press) and socks probably. And my cronie I've got half done and waiting on the second half.

Then this adorable distraction kitty. Slinky kitty. Funny how kittens, and cats in general, can all of a sudden have no bones and just liquify. So happy we got her from the humane society though, everything is done, fixed, all shots, even microchipped. So easy.

Ok, got bulkheads leak tested and I'm good there. Also cut the stand pipes for overflows. Had a break to ponder if the unions were directional? Now it's lunch and then I'll continue....
