No copper for Mandarins and gobies are tolerant but II suggest treating both with chloroquine phosphate dosed precisely or API General cure. Gobies are jumpers and greatest risk is suicide by leap with themOrdered a bunch of fish today and will treating them all in copper power was wondering has anyone treated mandarins and gobies in copper power please let me know
Mandarins can tolerate amine chelated copper products, but they don’t tolerate bare quarantine tanks - no food for them.Ordered a bunch of fish today and will treating them all in copper power was wondering has anyone treated mandarins and gobies in copper power please let me know
Well how can i prevent ich from themMandarins can tolerate amine chelated copper products, but they don’t tolerate bare quarantine tanks - no food for them.
They aren’t super prone to ich and rarely get flukes. What I always do is hold them for 45 days in a fishless coral system with lots of pods to eat. I realize not everyone can do that. The next best option is to buy captive raised.Well how can i prevent ich from them
Kind of late on that matter haha mandarin is on his way so not sure if it’s worth the risk now plus 6 gobiesThey aren’t super prone to ich and rarely get flukes. Are these wild caught or from Biota/Ora?Well how can i prevent ich from them
So what you think i should do set them in a 10 gallon tank with a rock and just wait? Are these wild caught or from Biota/Ora?
If from Biota/Ora and delivered direct your risk is very very low.
If they’re wild caught… these are one of the most disease resistant fish commonly found in reef tanks, if not the most disease resistant. Their slime coat is very effective in preventing ich and other diseases, far more than most, if not all, other fish you’ll find. They’re low risk to start with, and that risk can be lowered further if you can keep them in an otherwise fishless system with live rock.
How many do you have coming and what size tank are they going into?So what you think i should do set them in a 10 gallon tank with a rock and just wait?
6 gobies all differentHow many do you have coming and what size tank are they going into?
If you have two males coming then expect a deathmatch.
Otherwise a small tank with a ton of live rock might be OK.

Sorry, I meant how many mandarins?6 gobies all different
One mandarinSorry, I meant how many mandarins?
These are the real problems for QT as outside captive bred they’re very difficult to get eating anything other than live food.
What if i took a live rock from my main into the QT system will the copper kill the copepods so the mandarin can’t eatI've had success QT'ing 2 mandarins with Copper Power and Prazi. The key was continuously hatching baby brine shrimp. If the brine shrimp are fed within 8-12 hrs of hatching, they are still nutritious with their yolk sac.
I had two brine shrimp hatcheries that I kept continuously working. I'd harvest the shrimp quickly after hatching and put them in the fridge. This slows down their metabolism and prolongs how long they're still nutritious.
Like Jay mentioned, they can tolerate copper products like Copper Power and Copper Safe. They just can't tolerate bare tanks with nothing to eat.
Takes some work, but definitely doable.
There is no Humblefish on here and copper will kill the food supply why I suggested other treatments and Jay also mentioned precautions.@Humblefish have you ever tried copper power on gobies and mandarins?
