Very nice! After the first day I had my black ice clowns I noticed an irky jerk. I have a couple empty tanks so I might start to try and capture the brood in a few months if they breed. Very informative thread that I appreciate very much!
That's very cool. I have two pair. snowflake and cinnamon. Cinnamon has laid twice. I want to try. Reading up on it now. Have not took the leap yet. Is it very difficult.
They're a cross between a normal orange ocellaris and a darwin. The color didnt come out too great in the last pic but theyll be a "maine mocha". I wouldnt say its been crazy hard to raise them. It just takes dedication and a very consistant routine.
Wow, the numbers grow fast. I'm sure that's somewhat intimidating. Less than a month ago you had none and now you're looking at your third hatch. Any plans on the end game which is now looking like hundreds of clowns? I would be freaking out trying to figure out what to do with them all in a couple months (and the approx 6 new hatches you would have by that time) when they are old enough to move to new homes.
I still don't have a definate plan for my clowns yet. I honestly don't have too much concern about what to do with them. I feel pretty confident between local fish stores and private selling or even trading that I'll be able to find homes. I can always decrease the number i raise too.
I just moved these guys to a 10g tank where they can grow out for a while. Sorry for the bad picture but it was a VERY late night again. I don't think they need to be in a blacked out tank anymore so now I can actually watch them swim around like normal. I wont take a picture but hatch number 2 is about 15 dph with stripes developing since about 10dph. Also my 3rd clutch of eggs just hatched early this morning and doing well so far.
Clutch number 4 was laid last night. This clutch seems just slightly bigger then the others but it could just be my eyes. These guys really are like clock work. Since my first clutch till this 4th one, they've only varied their schedule by 1 day.
Getting ready to collect hatch #4 tonight. Things are going well with everything. My first clutch are roughly 1/2 inch in length at this point and very easy to take care of. I'm currently working on a bigger grow out tank for my clowns. I have a 55g i'll be setting up with some hob filters, heavy duty air pump for good oxygenation and a titanium heater with controller ( definitely don't want a fish fry at this point). Its crazy to think at this point i have well over 200 clownfish in different developmental stages:shocked:
