Just starting my journey. Purchased used Fluval Evo 13.5. Caribsea Live Black sand, Life Reef Dry rock from Premium Aquatics, basket for chamber 1 from 3dOcean, debating on which pump to change to, RFG for stock outlets, I may Buy Aquaknight A029 as it's within my budget. The Dr Tim's to do a fishless cycle. New 50 watt heater. Will have used one as a backup. Considering Inkbird to monitor heat just in case a heater goes wonky. Fighting against my nature and determined to take my time. Pick each fish and coral with purpose. I am considering A Percula clown, Green clown goby and a Citron clown goby. Possibly a firefish....too many?

Welcome to R2R. :- )

Too many fish imo. Fire Fish don't do well with more aggressive fish like clowns, especially in smaller tanks.
I prefer the 2 goby types with a Fire Fish over the clowns. In the long run these type of tanks are just too small for clowns.
Congratulations on your new set up.

I have a trio of firefish in with 26 tangs, two butterflies, harlequin tusk, two gobies, neon goby and 8 clowns. Would not say that its a no-no. Firefish are safe when provided good hiding spots which they seem to find on their own

I used to have multiples as well just not in a 13.5 gallon tank, which the op stated was his tank.
Absolutely love FireFish, just not in a nano with a pair of clowns. :)

Was only going to do one Percula not a pair...but I am hesitant. I do see some LFS marketing what they are calling Nano Clownfish..which are supposed to stay smaller. Not sure I buy into the hype, unless fish like dogs can be bread from stock that stayed small and continue that characteristic. Dogs I know it can be done..marine life I am clueless

They are classified as nano often meaning they are recommended for smaller tanks and will in most cases not outgrow a nano tank
