All of a sudden my OG ASD Holy Grail torch started to shrink and is not doing well. Here are my parameters:

Salinity 1.024
PH 8.2-8.3
Temp 78-80
Phosphate 0.04
Mag 1275
Alk 8.0
Calcium 360
Nitrate 15

Bring salinity to 35ppt and give it a couple weeks.

Sorry to see this.. I know it sucks. Check for any pest if you can. Are you dosing or feeding anything strange? What are you measuring your salinity with, is it properly calibrated? I found my deaths were from salinity swings. You should bring that mg up to 1350-1400 and ca to 400-420 though for torches.

If those parameters are accurate…they are not the source of the issue. Your calcium is low, and salinity low, but they won’t kill a torch.

Your torch has a physical injury, a bacterial infection, or both.

The bottom right head is completely eroded away. The bottom left is not far behind.

How often do you take pics of it? Do you have one from a few days ago? Do you have any fish, crabs or shrimp that could be picking on it ?

You know my apex has been showing salinity swings but it usually hovers around 1.024-1.025

It has been eroding slowly. A couple days ago it was slightly better. I don’t have a pic. I have been observing it nonstop I don’t see anything picking at it. I don’t have shrimp and only have hermit crabs.

I have inspected it and I don’t see any jelly/flat worms.
dip in iodine, if able. get the color to be a tea color, but not overly dark that you can't see the coral. let it sit for about 5mins, then add back to tank. keep things stable, and continue monitoring for any worsening conditions. hope it bounces back for you!

Ok so this was not fine and then all of the sudden looking bad. Signs were out there, its been eroding and declining for a while and suddenly got worse

This is important for figuring out whats going on and what the cause is.

It sounds like a bacterial infection to me. you can try coral rx, or lugols might be better

Looking at it more closely it’s brown jelly disease. Ordered some Lugols. Any other suggestions?
Best bet at this time is KFC treatment which is a hefty shopping list if you don’t have it.

Cipro would be the main thing if you can only get one out of the recipe
