I was fortunate enough to pick up a 150 Rubbermaid Stock tank for free.

150 Gallon Stock Tank.jpg

The tank was being used as a sump and had four holes drilled into it....three at 5/8 inches and one at 1/2 inch diameter.

What would you recommend for patching, plugging, blocking up these holes?

Thanks.

Could you 2 part epoxy them shut? Put a piece of tape on the outside and fill it from the inside

Phil Swift here! That's a lot of damage! Hole in your sump? No Problem! Try new Flex tape!

LOL. I think that would only work if I cut it in half, Flex Tape it back together, and then slap a boat motor on it and ride around in shark infested waters. :D

Thanks for the suggestion, but want something a bit more substantial and permanent.

That's a possibility Crabs. Maybe slap in a piece of plastic screen to add strength. The only question would be expansion / contraction differences between the epoxy and the tank....this sits either outside or in an unheated shed. And I do have mega-tubes of epoxy.

Dang. Then I would pick up some hole plugs off amazon and silicon or epoxy.

Swordfish 60470 - 349pc Flush Type Hole Plug Assortment https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074S1CXZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0z6tCbA8H413B

Now we're talking! Although I don't need the whole assortment. I found these Nylon plugs at the HD site.....5/8 inch for 60 cents.

Going to check these out with my next visit to HD to make sure they have enough beef to them....although we're only talking about 5/8 of an inch.

Thanks for that suggestion.

Maybe add some silicone around the rim of the plug. Should make it watertight and somewhat flexible.

That's the idea.....using my favorite silicone formulated to stick to plastics:

Thanks....all great suggestions.
