There are two kinds of fish: The ones you love and the ones you want to banish to the frag tank! Whether you are new at the whole reefing thing or have spent the better half of your life elbows deep in tank water, everyone will one day have the "joy" of owning a fish that loves to beat up on its tank members. But are you successfully mitigating the tank bully?

Would you consider your reef peaceful?

My tank was peaceful for the first couple of years but now I have a couple of fish that turned into bullies:
-- My solo clown turned into bunghole only towards my tailspot blenny
-- My Banggai cardinal now chases my pajama cardinal quite a bit
*nothing horrific but there's some definite aggression amongst fish that never had issues with each other in the past

As my new tank is not up yet, I can only speak of my old 90g. It was peaceful. Neither the Yellow Tang, the Coral Beauty nor the Maroon Clown were obnoxious. They were all mellow with each other (and the other fish). My four-striped Damsel could get a little fiesty, but it wasn't bad. My other 3 Damsels were all well behaved.

With now six medium and large angels, the 6” Blue Angel is queen. Actually, I wanted a Queen but got a Blue — anyway, she’s beautiful but obnoxious! Hope her PMS is over soon ‘cause she’s still chasing the Blueface, which is bigger! She doesn’t mind all the tangs but does not like angels that look like her…sounds familiar? ;)

My midas blenny ( i know right ) and sixline wrasse actually team up to bully new fish. I should record it sometime they strategize and work together to chase the new guy.

I’d say mostly peaceful. There’s a bit of ruckus when I introduce new fish (especially from my Flame Back Angel) but after the first day or two, they’re generally fine again.
And a few of the residents;
