Photon V2 48" Hybrid T5 Aquatic Life Conversion

Wow, didn't realize this thread had gotten so much momentum. I am having great success, but wanted to make sure I share some of my tribulations. I run my T5's from 11am - 5p. My T5's are blue plus since I can adjust the whites. I need to back my blues off on my RB light during the time I have my T5's on. I am running that at max 50 on channel 3 and 5. Some people are looking for my light schedule and I will share that with this link. I am also about 7" of the water on a 120 gallon that is 24"deep. I would rather be about 10-12, but working on that slowly. Glad to see this thread spawned some new ideas and relationships with a great group of people. Logan is top notch and always there for us. I had a micro usb break off in a remote once and he shipped me a new one overnight. That's great service.

Please let me know if you all have any questions as well. I will try to post some pics of growth. All of the corals in my tank on this build are from WWC. I splurged.

I see you use no red or green I merged them to make another blue spectrum

Very nice, I just ordered the AquaticLife T5 hybrid as well but went with
Atinics 2 bulb
Coral plus
Purple plus
Once I get all the lighting tuned in I will post my schedule aswell

So I completed my DIY T5HO installation on my reefbreeders Photon V2. I am really happy with this as I do not need to hang the T5 from the ceiling they can mount directly to the fixture which sits on my canopy. The Sunblaster fixtures weigh almost nothing and the 2 sets of brackets from BRS were like $13 a set. I paid $95 for the (2) 48” sunblaster T5HO with reflective lens included and $8 for the cable to tie the (2) together. I purchased a set of longer channel bolts and nuts directly from reef breeders. So all in with ATI coral blue plus lamp and special blue lamp I did this for under $200

T5HO only over my 48 x 24 x 24 120 gallon.

I purchased the ReefBreeders photon 32 V2+ with thier T5 Hybrid kit that is supposed to be custom fit for thier Photon light, but it looks like I got one for the Kessel, I've tried to contact them through email and phone but no one answers either, if I had known the customer support was so poor I would of bought elsewhere

i have a center brace on my 120g it gets around it pretty well

So is this with the hybrid t5? Because that is a huge shadow IMO. However with the T5 it may be almost unnoticeable? Ever get a par reading under that brace? Good thing I can put my rock work around it.

i have not yet I just got the DIY T5 setup attached this is only a single lamp on the front an back. gonna borrow my reef clubs meter soon to get some readings

Yes I just got mine in aswell, it’s suppose to have the end rails and the predrilled rails that attach to the fixture. I reached out to reefbreeders they didn’t have those parts in so they said they will ship out my pieces by the 18th

So i have the 48" Photon V2. #1 is it worth it to upgrade to the V2+ with the upgrade kit? #2 I also want to supplement my Reefbreeder LED with T5's. Do i get 4 T5's 2 on each side of the LED or only 2? 1 on each side. Also should i buy this Aquaticlife T5 hybrid kit or would it be cheaper to DIY my own?

Plan is to be able to grow a nice SPS tank.

gonna actually take some par readings this week. all my corals seem super happy with just the 2

2 should be plenty, I got the hybrid t5 with 4 bulbs. I’m awaiting the kit to mount it on the tank, so I’m not sure how much par 4 will bring , but 2 will def be enough
