hey. can you help me identify? I already started a post about my Chelmon, he had a few lumps but they didn't turn out to be ich. Yesterday he still had clean fins and today they're all pocked. Is it ich or Velvet? I can only treat Hyposality. I haven't noticed any spots on his body but he has a specific color which makes observation difficult. He has an appetite as always.

I don’t see anything. ✌️

@leomia
Stick with your conversation with Jay Hemdal. He is an expert.

On this forum you will have mixed reviews separating wheat from chaff.
thank you for your interest. You can't see it in the picture but there are spots on the fins :(
I'll wait for Jay, maybe he'll save me again :)

@leomia
I read thru a few of your thread titles to get an idea of your experience level. Consider starting a tank journal in member tanks forum to consolidate your information in one place. Also, you have tackled some more sensitive livestock.

In general, anemones require mature systems. Your fish choices are also more challenging. Keep it simple and slow down.

What else is in the ecosystem? How did you cycle your tank? What size?

What biofiltration discribes your system. These all pertain to fish health. Nothing happens in a vacume, everything effects everything,

Captive reefkeeping is holistic in nature.

Consider that stress kills more fish than all pathogens combined.

Again, consider starting a tank journal.

what does tank journal mean? I have a separate tank for Anemones. it has nothing to do with fish. I bought new fish for my new reef tank and ich broke out. all threads concern separate tanks. that's why I'm starting a separate topic.

You said he has an appetite.. what is he eating and how often?
I feed him at least 5 times a day. He eats frozen food in mix. Clams. Live Blackworms and White worms and other pods and Easy misstick. I've only had him for less than 2 weeks.

That sounds good, keep it up. He looks thin in the "forehead" area..
I know he's skinny and I care about making him look better but he was in worse shape when he got to me :(
He looked like the picture below. I hope he gains mass.

Tank journal would be a diary on a tank; from when you started it. If you have different tanks than keep different journals on them.

“Aquarium Maintenance Notebook: Fish Keeping Journal - In this Log Book for your aquarium you can record water tests, water changes, treatments given, ... checks and more. Space for additional notes”

While the above is an application available on Amazon, r2r has a forum for tank journals:

thanks for the tips. I'll try to do that. the worst problem might be the language barrier, because I don't speak English very well.

If you are talking about the spots on the tail fin then it doesn't look like ich to me. My angel had the same thing when I got him and it went away. I did use a bit of melafix for stress.

Keep an eye on fins as it may be lymphocystis which butterflies often get but can also be a fin ray issue. Ich will multiply daily and pics not consistent with ich. Assure good water quality and some foods for this fish which is good to hear eating: LRS herbivore frenzy, plankton, , mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, chopped clam and Prime reef frozen.
Good water quality is a must with most butterflies and will reduce chances of Lympho which is viral and not a disease

thank you for your knowledge. I took a few better pictures. I also recorded a movie, maybe you can see it better. Chelmon is in Qt so the water quality is not the best unfortunately :(

yes, a fin ray issue. Fish is slightly thin, while eating. Add some foods I mentioned earlier. Here is mine to show a more normal body weight:

yes, I mean the spots on the fins. I've just added new, better photos, please take a look if your fish has similar spots.

Mine has those spots, on the fins, when I first got him. A cleaner shrimp made them dissappear by the 2nd day.

Can these fin problems may cause the death of the fish? He is skinny, unfortunately that's how I got him. I've had him for less than 2 weeks. I'm trying to feed him. He looks a bit better than before. I'm most happy that he eats frozen food, because when he came to me he wouldn't eat at all.
