So i went to the lfs today and they had this guy labeled as a Condy and im pretty sure its a lta. I paid $9 for it so if it is a condy that's ok and if its a lta that's even better. . It has the white spots and when open the tentacles are pinkish purple and green. I have a condy from petco and it does not have the white spots on it. It has a small tear in the top of the foot/column so it went straight to my HT for qt and cipro treatment that started tonight. So my questions are 1. What do I actually have a condy or a Lta? 2. Does the cipro treatment usually work for tears to prevent infections? 3. Any other treatment advice? My tank info: 90g tank with 40 (probably 15 gallons of water) breeder sump. Main display is 2 years old ( some stuff older from previous tank upgrades) Prams: Nitrate/nitrite 0 Phosophate 0. Sg 1.026 CA/Mag normal ranges. MH and Led lighting. Shallow sand bed hence the tupperware bowl in the ht tank.

That is an M. doreensis -- LTA.

In my experiences with them, any damage to the foot is a death sentence. However, I wouldn't stop trying, but wouldn't expect anything either.

Defiantly a lta. If you have adequate lighting and feed it it may make a comeback to full health.

So after two full days of Cipro treatment it is looking better and expanding a lot more. I am a little concerned because it has a little strip of skin that it appeared to be shedding. But the foot looks ok and intact. I placed it back in the tupperware container and buried the foot this morning and it dug it self back out, but seams to be settling back into the sand on its own. I'm going to so at least another day of Cipro and then try to move it to the main display. Pics took 20 mins ago

Sooner

The sooner you can get to sand the more comfortable it will be, even if you put some sugar grain size sand in a tupperware container till you move it to your display tank.

There is sand and fine crushed coral in the container and it is slowly digging its foot into the sand and attached to the side of the container. I didn't want to put a sand bed or rubble in my ht because of clean up and treatment. Plus I have a shallow sand bed in my display tank so I may leave it in the container if it stays attached well when I put it in my Display.

Against my better judgement I just put a 3-4" layer of sand and a piece of lr on one end of my HT. The foot is showing signs of deteriorating and not doing well and I wonder if its not being able to expand and do well in the container. I know foot injures are usually a death sentence to nems but im going to try everything I can to save this one. Mouth is still tightly closed and nem still is expanding and getting bigger. But the foot is really concerning me now. Hopefully the meds will reverse the effects of the damage done and allow it to heal. My HT may become a mini display for a while because I will not risk putting anything in my tank that is remotely sick due to my ritteri. The treatment tank is a 10 gallon tank and im running 2 T8 strips across it. Is that enough lighting???

At the very least I'd have T5. Or led.

crud I don't have any other lighting to give it. One is a act. bulb and the other is a 65k bulb. Should I try feeding it in the qt?

Ok I'll start feeding mysis tomorrow. I didn't plan on it being in the qt for long so I didn't worry a lot about lighting now that it looks like it might be there for a while I may have to look into adding something else. If it stays in there more than a week ill add my hang on protein skimmer, but I don't want to do that yet because I'm still treating with cipro

Honestly, at this point I wouldn't bother feeding it. First, it takes energy for the anemone to consume food -- you want that energy going to trying to repair itself. The anemone has good size and tentacle lenght, so it isn't currently in need of food.
Secondly, the QT is pretty small and has limited filtration, don't want to the ammonia by putting in food.
Third, it might not be able to disgest the food (( because of the damage )), but could still pull the food in --- it would just sit inside of the anemone and foul the internal water.

At this point I would make sure that the water quality stays as good as possible.

I've read a lot on treatments and care for about all the hosting nems, before I got my mag. It went through cipro treatment as soon as I got it and has done well sense. But to be honest I have no clue what else to do to treat this thing besides keeping the water quality as good as posable. Is the cipro actually doing any good for this type situation? If so how long should I continue treatment vs just keeping it in the qt? The mouth is staying closed and the nem is staying well inflated and still getting bigger. The issue is the foot, one day it looks good the next like crap.

It's still hanging in there but not looking so good. Just trying to keep the water quality as best as possible. I quit doing the cipro after the first few days.
