Interested in buying a protein skimmer for my tank. Looking to pay under $150 or even under $100. Don't want a HOB want it to fit in one of the chambers. Can anyone recommend one please [emoji1]

I think your best bet will be IM or Tunze, so they fit in your chamber, but not for the price.
I use HOB 1.5, the reason I went with HOB is to maximize biological filtration in the chambers.

Following. Looking to get a skimmer for mine soon.

So the aquamaxx doesnt fit in a chamber? Im clueless on skimmers, this will be my first. Id like it to fit in a chamber but havent heard great things about the IM one.

Most likely will go tunze or the aquamaxx once I find out more about it

I used to dislike IM protein skimmer on my 40 but eversince I put an airline tubing, it does work well.
I sold the Aquamaxx HOB since it is not appealing to me but I heard positive feedback.

I would recommend against the IM skimmer. I had one and it produced a little bit of skim mate - but it was very hard to dial in and never really produced a thick foam head. I have the same tank, IM Nuvo 40, and was doing this same hunt. I wanted a skimmer internal as well. Ultimately I went with a HOB Reef Octopus Classic 90 and couldn't be happier. It pulls great skim, is super easy to adjust and easier to clean/empty in my opinion. If you're really set on staying internal I would get the Tunze DOC 9004 skimmer (DC if you can spring for it). Super discreet and great feedback surrounding it. I didn't go with it because I would have to give up the right chamber entirely to it. It doesn't fit in the "skimmer" chamber.

Reading up on it alot. Is it something I really need right now? I know it helps a ton with taking all the garbage out. So far all my paramaters are great and probably adding my first coral tomorrow (Green star polyps)

You need a good nutrient export method that you can rely on a long term basics. If it’s low bio load, LPS and Softie tank where 5g w/c per week can handle it, then may be not.

But having a way to keep things working for you is what is important. Will refugium alone work, probably not cos you need a larger fuge. There are many ways to do this & skimmer is one of them.
