There seems to be little/ almost no flow in the tank. Might want to add a couple powerheads for flow/ surface agitation...

Just bought a Porcupine puffer from lfs, have it floating in tank right now. It was swimming around at the store and all the way home then I started adding tank water to the bag and now it’s at the bottom of the bag, no fins moving, breathing sorta heavily.

Tank is ~1 month old seeded with rocks from my 2yr old tank with clowns, gobies, pistol shrimp etc

Acclimation stress ? Or is this a cause of concern? Fish looks healthy no signs of disease that I can see other then lethargic behavior at the moment

Poor buddy looks really stressed and has what I think are rub marks on his lips from glass surfing. Monitor closely and if he doesn’t eat try live foods and treat if needed. But for now he looks like he just needs to get used to his new home. What size tank?

That’s pretty much all he was doing at the store, surfing the glass lol. He’s hiding in a cave now, coming out every now and then. I was hand feeding earlier, did krill and some silversides too.

It’s a 90 gallon with a 40 gallon sump. I’m aware it’s small and I probably won’t be able to keep him forever but my buddy has a 300g display at his store and can take him any time so that’s my backup plan. I’m already in love though and don’t want him to go ever !!!!

Yes - the glass surfing can be an issue with these, tough to control it though.

To me, the fins look cloudy, but if they don’t look that way in person, then it must be a video artifact.

Wouldn’t call them cloudy in person at all, to me at least. It’s strange though, under blues I swear I see white dots but under whites they disappear. Maybe I’m just being paranoid, but it’s hard to tell.

Generally they mope or pout the first day or two. Add air stone as its acclimating and lights at low intensity
