Should I do a fresh water dip before adding to my tank?

I would do a dip with something that will kill any hitchhikers. Not a freshwater dip. Bayer, or Seachem Reef Dip, Lugols, etc...

Wouldn’t you know I dont have any of that stuff as I have a FOWLR aquarium. This was an unplanned coral. Lol. I am dripping now. I’m so not ready to be a coral mom.

Well, you have a couple of options I guess.
1) Go ahead and put it in your tank and rub some rosary beads and a rabbit's foot for good luck.
2) If you have a power head place it in a container until you can get some dip or Bayer Advanced from Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes, etc... and then go through the dipping procedure to make sure you kill any possible critters hitchhiking.

When I first placed it in my tank I turned my lights down to 50%. Then after about 30 minutes I turned them off and have blue led’s on at about 50%. All the polyps were close but they are slowly opening back up. I believe flow is good because every branch is moving. I do have a small power head I can add as soon as I find a sponge to cover intake. Luckily I had purchased a reef starter pack several months ago so I have some supplements. I’m planing on an aprox 15% water change tomorrow. Hoping it’s hapoy where I placed it because my clown fish Princess Leia attacks my hand every time I put it in the tank. She sure is brave for a 1 1/2 inch fish. Lol

Well all polyps are open this morning. Last night they were all closed so I’m hoping this is a good sign. I did add in some photo plankton just in case. I feed frozen baby brine every day and I’m getting ready to start up a brine shrimp hatchery.

I added a power head so now there is strong flow coming from two directions. The thing is swaying a lot but from what I read they like high flow. All polyps are out. Will do a 15% water change tomorrow. Have the salt water mixed with a submergible pump running. Used Instant Ocean Reef Salt so hoping that’s ok.
