I have a regal angel which i believe has brooke. My clown might have had it two weeks ago, and now i believe my regal has it. Since he was acting completely normal and eating just fine, i didnt want ot stress him out giving how hard it was to get him eat in the first place. He has shown faded colors and slight white spotty fuzz for about 8 days. I ruled out velvet since i think hed be gone by now.

I have a QT ready but still hesitant to remove him to elimate stress. At the moment.... he still eating but now tends to hang out behind the scenes and on the sand bed. Any thoughts?

I've never heard of a Regal Angel developing Brooklynella, but then, the sample size for that would be pretty small.

They are prone to flukes - has this fish ever been treated for those?

The only display tank safe Brook treatment is really only Ruby Reef Rally Pro, but it isn't as effective as formalin as a treatment.

As mentioned, a clear video taken under white light might help us firm up your diagnosis a bit....

This unfortunately is velvet and fish and any others will have to be isolated and treated in separate tank using coppersafe at treatment level 2.25 for a full 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off and with occupants exposed, they too should go into quarantine
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a tank from a second hand store or a starter kit from Walmart which most of the needed essentials.
With velvet, fish will scratch body against hard objects, lethargic behavior, Loss of appetite and weight loss, Rapid, labored breathing, Fins clamped against the body, and typically stay at the surface of the water, or remain in a position where a steady flow of water is present in the aquarium.
Ich always shows spots at first. They are less visible in some species, and long term, the spots coalesce into mucus, but it is never seen in just the gills. After flukes, bacterial gill disease is probably the second most common of these symptoms. Velvet is purely a gill disease and does stop fish from eating, but the fish breath really fast.

Looks more like late ich to me, but treatment would be the same (copper for 30 days in qt). I would do a 60 day fallow either way to ensure anything has died out.

It is not brooklynella - however, it could be ich (diffuse) - with mucus irritation. There are some spots on the fins. Either way the treatment is the same - as @vetteguy53081 outlined. By the way all of the fish exposed to this one will need to be treated with copper - followed by Prazipro per protocol - followed by a fallow period.

That’s moderately severe marine ich, Cryptocaryon. You’ll need to move all fish to a treatment tank and dose with either coppersafe, or second choice would be hyposalinity. You need to move quick on this though because treatments take a few days to begin to work.

Thanks for everyone's help. I removed all fish to a coppersafe QT... but wasn't able to catch them until it was too late. All fish died so now starts a 75 day fallow.

Will take extra caution with new stock and QT properly. Also going to beef up the UV watts before the next fish purchase.

Sorry to hear that -- I had a massive velvet outbreak that wiped out nearly all fish. I lost several prized ones so felt pretty devastated. I know how you feel & hang in there! I'm out of fallow this week and it's been a tough & long ordeal.

Definitely need to QT new additions going fwd though. Also, try to reduce stress as much as possible...

Sorry to hear. It’s only been a week, that seems pretty fast for all of the fish to have died from ich - could something else have contributed to it? Maybe issues getting the moved out, or some issue with the QT?

Pretty sure it was Velvet as mentioned. I wasnt able to get them from the display until they were weak. At that point, i think it was too late for QT to have any effects
