After using water from the main tank, which previously had Marine Velvet, to fill the quarantine tank and observing the fish for 20 days without any signs of disease, today I officially introduced the fish into the main tank.
Should I continue to monitor this fish in the main tank?
How long should I wait before adding new fish to ensure there is no risk of disease recurrence?

20 days was a little soon as was mentioned a Full 30 days and using infected water for a quarantine tank is a No-No

Can you remind everone what your version of quarantine is/was - because I know there are a number of threads - and I don't remember what happened to this specific fish. However - I would wait 4 weeks minimum.

I cant tell if you treated the fish with copper and then added tank water to the quarantine tank after the 30 days was done - or if you used tank water to make your quarantine water.

Either way - the treatment time for velvet is 30 days with copper. And the fallow period for velvet is 6 weeks - however, the way you did things (at least my interpretation of how you did it) makes the question impossible to answer. It is impossible to know whether your fish has some limited immunity to velvet - and may pass it back and forth in the tank - and when you add new fish you could have major problems - so can you remind us again what happened with this fish. Additionally - I was under the impression that you had numerous fish under quarantine - where are they?

My main tank had velvet, and I left it fallow for two months. Now, I plan to reintroduce fish, but I’m unsure if the tank is still contaminated because there are two small damsel fish that I couldn’t remove.

My plan was to take water from the main tank, put it in a quarantine tank with the fish I intended to introduce, and observe for 20 days to see if any velvet symptoms appeared. Since the fish showed no signs of illness, I have now added it to the main tank.

How much longer should I continue monitoring the fish in the main tank? How long should I wait before adding new fish without the risk of disease?

Oh - right - there is never a 'for sure' with the damsels still in the tank. You will always have a risk that they have passed it back and forth - it could also have died off. But your question was about the tang?
