I had some extra 1/4 line from my rodi and it fit snuggly in the outlet of the skimmer. Anyone think I will notice a difference in PH? I took before pics and will wait a week to see if I can notice a difference. I didn’t use a filter because the valve will stop all but the smallest critters and I used transparent line so I can see if something gets in there. It’s more then 30 ft so bugs would have to travel a long way.

I had a daily 0.3 increase in alk consumption after running it outside. Think I went from 8.1 to 8.3. You probably wanna get a small piece of mesh for the end as a small bug or clog will overflow everything back into the system.

Interesting......
They are air cylinder mufflers. They muffle exhaust noise on production equipment but also keep dust and critters out. I also put QD's on a new can of rox.8 carbon every year or so just to give me peace of mind about outdoor pesticides and fertilizers

you ran 1/4" 30 feet?
IMO, I think you're skimmer is going to have a hard time pulling enough air in.....

EDIT: or I could be wrong.....
So far it seems to be working fine but it’s an easy fix if it goes south. But just from the comments it looks like I better keep my skimmer cup clean for a little while just in case it overflows though

wouldn't it cause issues on the other end, (keeping in mind most skimmers are venturi draw)?.....trying to remember the correct term...but lets call it head pressure for now LOL....

I see you're in Topeka, won't it freeze and clog soon?
It’s a couple feet off of the ground so I’m hoping we don’t get that much snow in the next few weeks., I could always run it up 10 feet and mount the inlet underneath the rain gutters. Hopefully we don’t get 10 foot of snow lol.

Not sure but so far when I put my ear up to the inlet 30+ feet away, I can hear it sucking. I can also see the air bubbles in the skimmer. It seems to be functioning normal

30 feet is a long way but better than nothing..I will always put my tanks near an outdoor wall just so I can drill a hole in the wall here on out lol..2 of the best decisions I've made in reef keeping..run a line from outside directly into the skimmer..& KALKWASSER! This is with 5 people in the house & a dog..when we go on vacation easily 8.5-8.6..& I need to top my KALKWASSER off but I'm purposely letting it drop to 7.2 ALK..the PH would easily cross 8.4 daily if I topped my Kalk off..
