Agreed on all fronts here, thanks for calling this out. The intent to put together a reference for hobbyists who want to obtain corals that look great without trick lighting. My fault for seemingly 'locking' in the 10,000 K color temperature...Do you consider T5 Coral+ & Blue plus combo as 10k? 10k as defined by our eyes is more yellow than that combo.
We are aligned... I've kept salt water aquariums since '92 and reefs since '05 so I understand (and have utilized) most pre-LED tech (prior owner of ATI 10-bulb, Giesemann Spectra & Infiniti, Viper, PFO, Son Agro, XM, (and my personal favorite) Sfiligoi XR models) between then and now. Funny how the shift slowly creeps up on you; I run my Radions at all channels 100%, and while I consider this white, it is 12k K at best. (I would run the freshwater Kessils or Radions, but there is no UV or near UV channels on them). Either way; a slight, but definitely not an oversight.Same with running most LED brands at 100% to create full spectrum.
Agreed. Although I propose to open it up both ways, as I think this also would miss the corals looking great in the sub-10k K arena (thank you @Mellotang). I've updated the parameter from '10K' to "~ 6.5k - 14k K" which I think gives a better/more realistic spread and still fulfills the original vision.I'm suggesting maybe you should widen that range a bit to 10-14k or so.
