Red patch clown fish

I have a pair of juvenile clown fish for almost 2 months now. I bought them from a LFS where they only sell pre-QT or aquaculture fish. From the first day, I notice the smaller of the two had a red dot on its body by the first white stripe. It has never appeared to cause the fish any discomfort or its swim. It has been eating fine. It actually eats more than the larger clown. Today, as the fish has gotten a bit larger, I noticed red patch may have gotten a bit larger as well but I can't recall if about the same scale as it was before. From the photos, do you think it's something I should treat?

Do you mean the notch in its operculum (gill plate) where the red gill is showing through? That could be a congenital or developmental defect. It could also be a bacterial infection from an injury.

Given that the fish has had this since you got it, I'd say it is a defect.....

Pics are very fuzzy and fish are distant in the pics but Jay offered what is the likelihood
