My small saddle puffer has what appears to be dark green algae growing around the perimeter mouth. I'm wondering how to treat this condition. It is a 32Gal FOWLR tank.

Thanks! Clay

I have a saddle back. Still pretty small. Been feeding him algae and pieces of shrimp with shell on. Anyone else have advice for this guy for treats or extra meals? How often should I feed him meat compared to algae? Thanks guys

Cute puffer. I know they should eat some greens, but mine refuses. Some of the food I offer (Rod's, LRS, etc) has pieces of nori and meaty food mixed. She will daintily pick the meat off the algae if they are stuck together.

These fish are strictly carnivores. Whoever told you to feed them greens was terribly misguided.
Honestly don't remember where I read that. My daughter and I googled about appropriate diet when we first got her several years ago because she wouldn't eat the first two days and we were trying everything. Certainly she agrees with you though on the preference for meaty foods.
