If one becomes available, it’s too small to ship until it grows a little. The current one is going to @banik but is awaiting his tank to be ready
Everything's transferred as of a couple days ago!

Letting everything settle in and tracking parameters, but should be good in Jan after shipping delays clear out.

Having to RMA all my Neptune gear really screwed over my organization though...

I do have the KHGuardian running, though I'm not using it for auto correction yet. I'm dosing AFR and letting everything stabilize.

Ok who here quarantine their fish? I see so many of you acclimating and dumping fish into the display. @stoney7713 do you do full quarantine, or just observational?

I'm wondering how to do things like anthias. I've experimented with TTM, but not sure how sensitive fish like leopard wrasse or anthias do.

I think we probably enjoy similar things and I'm glad the potatoes were a success. They're honestly pretty easy, tasty, and don't have a lot of attention required during cooking.

I generally find the same thing to be true on the cost vs. incremental quality increase curve for a lot of foods. I roast a whole hog every year, spent the money one year on a fancy heritage Berkshire blah blah blah, couldn't tell the difference. Prime over choice for anything that's still red in the center, dry scallops, and if you ever buy a whole leg - jamon iberico black label over prosciutto.

I almost bought some A5 from Costco last week, 3-4 pound packs, 60 bucks a pound. Literally the cheapest I've ever seen it. I'm almost tempted to go see if they have any left as I type this out, but what the heck would I do with all that and I wasn't feeling well at the time...

Yeah, super easy and very tasty. And yes, sounds like we have the same tastes. Though to be fair, I'd say I also would have a taste of anything @Thuan has got cooking.

I got anthias from Detroit reef club and they held them for several weeks and they have their own qt procedure. It’s not a full blown crazy qt, but it’s monitored and as needed medication and basic protocol. When they arrived I put them right in the display

Despite getting a very clear male / female pair, with the male being larger, the female still transitioned male and became dominant. Frequently bullying the true male, and eventually the male stopped eating and would only hide.

Regardless, no qt was needed and no sickness developed. Obtained healthy fish and they were always healthy. Natures personalities and changes came out and I couldn’t stop it. So now I have one

Your nosforatu response had me cracking up

- Vort
lol
Wasn't sure if you were offended at the crack that it is a very dated name. I wasn't sure if you were pulling our legs. Google search showed that Vortigern was a military leader from 394 AD, so I thought I'd go with a joke about being old like Nosferatu.

Enter to win a pump . Appreciate your like

Hahaha you and @evilexotica liked another person's photo and now you are in second place. You'd have won a pump if you weren't so kind as to like the competition.

It’s a British name that means overlord or king!

And on a baby name site there were 26 people that favorited it !

My biggest fear in having a large tank is getting a sick fish and dealing with all residents being infected.

I have five fish in my display right now, 3 were aquacultured, the other two went through a light QT. My 10g has 3 fish, two through TTM and one aquacultured. I'm even thinking of doing another round of light QT before these go in the big tank since I'm that paranoid.

I’ve never quarantined a fish :)
And many I’ve bought from petco over the years others from LFS, and almost everything in the tank now is from mail order

I know people do that, I just can't imagine that in a 200g. If you have 30 fish and one is sick, it can bring down the whole tank. I also plan on some fancier fish, so I'd hate to have to deal with that.

The qt processes these days seems extremely stressful and unnecessary to me, putting them in unnatural environments, pumping them with meds for sickness they probably don’t even have, and extra tank transfers.

Everyone has their methods. I get them out of transport container and inspect visually and add to the tank. If they get sick, I’ll capture and put in a hospital setup for meds. I keep a 28g biocube for this and find it’s good size and easy to clean and setup quickly
