I don’t know why but I just looked at petco fish. The prices are ridiculously cheap. It really tempts you but the ich factor I’ve seen so many times at petco…. Ruby dragonets $17? Leopard wrasses $110? Like dang.

Yeah Petco is why quarantine tanks exist! Be careful!

Ok who here quarantine their fish? I see so many of you acclimating and dumping fish into the display. @stoney7713 do you do full quarantine, or just observational?

I'm wondering how to do things like anthias. I've experimented with TTM, but not sure how sensitive fish like leopard wrasse or anthias do.

I do acclimation, observation, and hydroplex dip. Some call it snake oil, but it’s worked for me.

I also try and always source my fish from a reputable shop that has had them in copper for at least 7 days.

I think my cleaner shrimps help too, I always keep them in my tanks, some say they don’t help, but I think they do .

Buy from petco online and skip the store. Petco store and website get their saltwater fish direct from the wholesaler Quality Marine, same used by live aquaria I believe.

Your petco fish can come right from the supplier and never touch their tank

My local petco lets me see the wholesale list, I can pick what I want, they order and I show up on arrival day and can get the fish in the arrival bag…never sees the store water. Ask for the aquatics manager and befriend them or be polite and start up convo then ask if they can do special orders

I had dogs. Don’t need them any more. Love them. But better at other peoples houses. Been picking up after their poop, allergies, kennel for vacation. Hard pass.

Had them all my life. Been much simpler without and less heartbreak. I think the final nail was my mom’s dog. Scary butt terrier Aussie Shepard mix. Some cog was missing 100% in that dogs head. Bit us so many times. Needed doggie Prozac.

Everything's transferred as of a couple days ago!

Letting everything settle in and tracking parameters, but should be good in Jan after shipping delays clear out.

Having to RMA all my Neptune gear really screwed over my organization though...

I do have the KHGuardian running, though I'm not using it for auto correction yet. I'm dosing AFR and letting everything stabilize.

Did all that algae pop up within a couple days or was it just all rock and sand and just a coral transfer?

I have to get another dog...a real dog..not this bs dog we have now that MY dog died. We had her (2nd dog) before my dog died and she was supposed to be bigger but it turned out not so. I prefer a dog that can maul someone if they break in or if I say the words "get em".

I felt that way about the shmedium doodles we have. Grew up with shepherds my whole life. These guys would legit cuddle the burglar for pets before the intruders swiss cheesed with 60rds of 5.56

Exactly! Don't get it twisted though..all my dogs have always been sweet and very gentle with kids and such. But..they understand who the leader of the pack is. No leashes needed when a simple "hey" will suffice. Meanwhile it's funny to watch people's dogs never listen to them with their super gentle approach. But alas....to each their own. A good dog is better than most people to have around.

I had it running for about a month before transferring anything, a couple weeks with lights. I was a little worried about my herbivorous fish, so didn't do bulk removal. I added the clean up crew from reefcleaners a week ago, pods, added chaeto, and started running the skimmer when I transferred livestock and an letting things find equilibrium to see what I need to adjust.
