For diy mang you can use loudwolf manganese sulfate monohydrate at .31 grams per 1000ml rodi. This is the same strength as rm mang
So your saying me mixing 8g per 1000ml is overkill??

And I use the Loud Would MnSo4…..hmmmm

Manganese is hard to figure out without icp. Depends on amount of macro algae + the corals that actually consume it, and not all do

Billy has a fully stocked and packed acro tank. So his dose is probably more than you would need.

I have a 75g with some acros, all frags 1-3”, but also approx 25 goniopora, and an algae scrubber that grows turf algae by the fistful. I started with .4ml a day and after 2 months my icp said manganese was undetectable. I redid some calculations and now am dosing .9ml a day. Not sure if it’s enough or not, will need another icp to see if it shows up
I had to dose 5ml a day of the reef moonshiners Mn to get a reading of .72

I think he means more. I add lots of phyto and have honestly very little algae on the glass.
Huh …didn’t know that….i need to get back to dosing more regularly….i swear one day ill put that on a doser too

My current dose of my mix is 2.5 ml a day last ICP showed a Mn level of .92ug/L
Please correct me if I’m wrong

You were dosing 5ml a day of moonshiners and got a .72 on icp

You switched to diy, which is 26x more potent ( 8 / .31 = 25.8)
And you dose 2.5ml a day of this and next icp was .92

That doesn’t seem to make sense. Reduce dosage amount by 50% but with a solution 26x stronger and only went up by .2?

Starting to get an understanding now. So is my aim to try to get an ICP test on Mn of .1 to .3 ug/L?

Might have been 6ml…. And I did have a large influx of corals when i switched. So I would think that uptake also increased. I plan to do another ICP in January

Thank you!
I didn’t just start dosing 5-6ml a day. I did build up to that. And it took 6-7months before I saw a reading on the ICP. I was also very inconsistent with my dosing (I had not set up a doser yet for the Mn) so this may also be why the jump from the moonshiners Mn and my personal mix was so small.

I will be interested to see what my levels are at now that it’s been 6 months of dosing consistently. I can tell you that I haven’t seen any ill effects.

I use a jewelers scale to measure my Mn.

There is a Mn on amazon you can get that is 28% Mn. And I know someone who mixes 1 teaspoon (roughly 4.5g) with 1000ml.

Do you use Manganese sulfate or Manganese(II) chloride tetrahydrate for your mix?

What is this coral. I got it several years ago and forget

For first 2 years it didn’t grow much. I moved it recently. Now it’s growing branches / stalks?

This next pic is today - I made the polyps retract so you can see all the new branches coming out. I assumed it was a montipora but was surprised to see it starting to branch under better flow and lighting. Anyone know what this is?

Loudwolf mang sulfate monohydrate is 32% mang by weight. I think the rm is 26% by weight mang. Either way...i make to rm strength for the calculator. If you want it twice as strong you can do it that way and dose half as much or whatever.
