I'd like to catch a sale on a KHGuardian... Run it in parallel with my Trident.
It’s 400$ And used to be 1000+ how much more sale do you want

For a device that does auto alk monitoring and auto dosing That’s a great price in this hobby. And it can run standalone and doesn’t need extra stuff

It’s times like this I wish I was a programmer. All you need a raspberry pi and get the code off of a trident and off to the races, and I’m betting soup to nuts it would only cost $100-150 in materials, along with the 3d printer.

Alas

I can’t math.

You say that but eventually I was scolded for calling them dudes even though my dudes is universal.
I worked with a guy once who asked me why I call everyonr Bud. I responded back with "I call ya butthole instead if that's better" He just laughed and we went back to work.

I know there's a group of hobby programmers that has created their own controller systems using raspberry pi, called ReefPi

And I betcha it works as good as anything on the market. Probably better. I heard the pi’s are very very easy to program. I took c++ programming in high school and Cisco. Let me say. I have no idea how I passed c++

I've looked in to it some, but before I can do to much with it I've gotta figure out where my raspberry pi ended up in the move

We’ll device has 3 precision dosing pumps, optical sensors, magnetic stirrer, float valves, lcd screen, the brain / chipset itself, the frame / housing. I can see this being 150-200 in parts and 200 for their software coding / efforts to design and build it.

Plus it’s designed to expel the testing “waste” back into the tank safely, and use a diy alk solution that anyone can cheaply and easily make.

It’s with 400$ To me. To get this from a competitor your looking at 700-800 for the whiz thing or 1500+ for a apex base system

I spent 50$ on an add on module to get temp monitoring, orp, and salinity monitoring also

If we take phosphate out of the picture they can do all the other stuff above for 400$

I will be fully transparent.

They offered to build it for me for 800$. No reagents needed. Payment on completion and proof of successful functionality. The photo sensor needed to read phosphate doesn’t exist and would be custom created. They are confident they can do do this. Device would be Bluetooth or local wifi only - so you can view everything from an app but only when on your home network.

Let’s say this works out and a device is created that reads all these things without reagents, multiple times a day

  • pH
  • Temperature
  • Salinity
  • Ammonia
  • Nitrate
  • Phosphate
  • Dissolved Oxygen
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium
  • Alkalinity
Would anyone buy one for $800?

Nice. My speciosa mini colony didn't make it to shipping. The 2 polyp and 2 baby strat was nipped by his file fish. I refunded. Very disappointed
