My wife, who is on a girls trip to Cancun, sent me to the LFS today to shop for new fish that she wanted from an order he was receiving. A few text messages later and bam - new fishy friends for her FOWLR with mushroom tank.

Oh God love them! This is why I need a semi FOWLR tank.

FYI there are two different subspecies of marine betta. They grow to slightly different sizes and shapes as far as I recall. It's minor, not noticeable for size and shape, but one has a longer fin or something. Color pattern is where they differ most and one has a more predatory nature from anecdotal evidence that I've read.

Fine spot = Calloplesiops argus
Big spot = Calloplesiops altivelis

Haven't kept one but the LFS had one today. Largest one I have ever seen. A good 7 inch in length. Was a pass for me as they are nocturnal and rarely out during the day.
IDK, it would give me something to look at late night when I can't sleep.

I already like interacting with the butterflies, they are always hunting. Especially at night, nothing like feeding them some black worms while other fish are sleeping and they poke their beaks out of the water in anticipation.
