I'm really debating if I want to do copper now... This tang is super healthy looking, no flashing, scratching, skin looks good. I was under the impression all tangs have ich. Since it came in skinny I was afraid to do TTM, but now I'm kinda wondering if I want to do that and observation instead of copper....

@stoney7713 hows that long nose butterfly doing. Mine was worrying me. Dropped mysis. Pellets. Beef heart. Would take a micro piece or two of the mysis. Had some left over mysis nori blend and he pigged out. Know ways to train him to eat the other snacks?

He looks really good, I think the idea "all tangs have ich" is mainly because they develop it out of nowhere.

I lean towards the truth is any fish could be carrying it. They could be healthy and never you see it.

Why do they develop it at all AFTER they are collected, stress, immunity decreases.

You want to be 100% sure, treatment is required. But you'll have to treat each and every fish and make sure everything is clean and sterile between quarantine and Display.

Doing great now. He didn't eat for several days, ran treatments for internal parasites, he slowly started pecking at pods I added and BBS.

Wouldn't touch black worms. Tried a frozen plankton blend and emerald cuisine, started eating more and more.

Got spirulina brine shrimp and it was a hit. Noticed possible parasites again, another treatment.

Now he eats like a pig, any type of frozen food including mysis, which he wouldn't touch before.

I have not tried pellets or flakes yet.

@BasementBox Just keep trying things, he may develop a taste for other things. You could get spirulina mysis, I forgot that was a step along the way after the spirulina brine shrimp.

I plan on trying white worms again tomorrow, they are easy to culture and most fish love them. Very high in protein.

Noted. Yeah. I’ve noticed my guy hunting for pods and pecking around. I know I have a population but it is not going to be massive since I have wrasses on the prowl. I was just happy to see him go ham on something. He’s the size of half a dollar bill, very active but probably not all that comfortable. He sleeps against an overflow at night. No fish harass him though.

I was wondering how yours way doing. Beautiful fish. Mines still in quarantine, dand near as long as my hand beak to tail. Hangs out in is cave, or poking at the glass (hungry mode) .

But he's ready to eat anytime day or night. Maybe try adding a bit of food at night, put the powerheads on feed mode and squirt some in.

Butterflies in the wild constantly hunt and peck. In an aquarium, feed as frequently as possible. You'll hear 3 times daily etc. Hence a late night snack could be beneficial.

@billyocean I know it's early...good morning. What was your muriatic acid used for in the reef. I get the lye part. Also going to add 12% hydrogen peroxide to the list .
Muriatic acid can be used for cleaning pumps and such. I dont use it in the tank or anything
