I dont think so. I plan to eventually run a UV but no clue how effective or necessary that even is. Anything should die off from no food source in a blank tank.

Short of aquacultured SPS, every piece of coral we put in our tanks come from natural ocean water.

The aquariums often cant pick their tide and are inshore of the barrier reef or pulling water from the intracoastal. With all the boat traffic i wouldnt run that water in my tank.

The Mote florida keys coral restorations just run recirc pumps as far as I could tell.

Best margins in the hobby are trace elements followed by most dry goods needing dosed.

You could grow out a walt colony for 3 years and still have worse margins than flouride/iodine/manganese bottles.

Consider a diatom filter for it. There is a diy one I love and use a ton here:

Hey now. I’m going to enjoy dosing my trace starting tomorrow.

Maybe I’ll drink some shine while dosing moonshiners in my tank. That way I won’t think about margins. Or at least I won’t care by the time I’m done
