As long as the neck of it is higher than what the sump level will be when it's off then it's fine. So you wouldn't need the whole thing to be all the way above it. Potential leaks are always a risk at any joint but most people never have a problem with them leaking

I was thinking of putting it in a 10g aquarium or whatever footprint it needs just in case it leaks, I'll have room in the stand. I'm really trying to figure out if externally plumbed return pump and skimmer are worth the effort.

Anyone have any good Black Friday gear that they found worth taking a look at. I bought a Red Sea Reefmat 1200, Adaptive Reef return pump.

Need a skimmer, rocks, sand, and whatever else for a 200g. I have lights and I have to figure out what to do for flow on a peninsula.

i bought a nyos skimmer recently and like it but coralvue has a big sale right now. I think AI goes on sale soon for the neros for flow
