i like snow (for the tank). It is scary at first, dumping something like that in the tank but i havent had any negative affects. I have done with and with out the bacteria added. I would go on A->Z to grab it cheaper then the "tank branded" stuff. scuttles off to go find a pix.

It is a little scary at first. But I have followed Sunnyx and his tanks for years and since I learned of this from him I was not even a little worried.
I did the same bought a big bottle of food grade stuff from the same place like $15. I premix a batch 500ml. Shake the bottle and dump some in weekly. If I use the recipe I will measure it out in to a graduated cylinder add the ingredients wait 10-15 min and dump it in.

How does the inhabitants do during the first dose. Is it better at night or in the day.
Mine were fine didnt even seem to notice. Fish still swimming around. My tang may go behind his rock until it clears a little but the scissor tails are out in it and so is the Timor wrasse, Of coarse the assessor is no where to be found but thats normal I get one glimpse every other week.

I dont think it matters when, might be a personal preference type thing. I scrape the glass, blow off the rocks and do the snow. Typically on sundays thats my maintenance day. The only thing thats not great is rest of the day its a little hazy maybe 4-6 hrs anyway.

I've never noticed any of my fish being affected by it. With that said, I dose at lights out or as I'm leaving for work typically but only because it takes 2-3 hours to clear up.

Just snowed the tank myself. Everyone is fine. Fish and coral. I did mine then let sit for 15 min with powerheads on. Then turned on return and skimmer.
