Shrimp sold as Peppermint Shrimp eat ZOAS and LPS!!! BEWARE

My “peppermint shrimp” ate my Goni to the skeleton. It started on my zoas before I took him out and put him in my Fuge. That is my (c) “false peppermint shrimp” I actually saw him eating the Goni.

(A) is the only real aptasia eating peppermint shrimp

All are sold as peppermint shrimp only one eats aptasia the rest will eat soft tissue of LPS and Zoanthid corals!!!!

I do have a “real” peppermint shrimp in my 75 DT and he has never ( to my knowledge) ate any zoanthids but I’m pretty sure he finished off the Goni the other one started. I moved the Goni to my 75 to try to save it but the next morning it was gone.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Hasn't happened to me personally, but I've read multiple accounts of "peppermint shrimp" eating LPS. I've also personally seen large hermit crabs eat LPS in front of my very eyes, for what it's worth.

I’ve seen 3 hermits all eating a burning banana stylo, all the new “whiteish” growth was eaten off. Thought they stopped and now the stylo is off to the races. I’m beginning to see why people don’t want anything with claws. I like blue leg hermits and Randall’s pistol shrimp and that’s it. Too many cleaner shrimp eating LPS stories. Although most are fire/ blood cleaners not skunks. I may get another skunk cleaner to replace one I recently lost to Dino’s.

My 2 skunk cleaners are model citizens, besides robbing food from my LPS
