One additional question for anyone with an OR4 120 bar. I’m interested in the exact length of the box part of the bar, not counting the cord connector (which appears to be included in the published dimensions).

Reason for asking is to know if it will literally fit inside a canopy that is just a bit over 48.5” wide inside. I can cut holes for the cord and connector as that side faces a wall.

I was under the impression one can dim a
" bar" but not dim individuals colors per bar.

Which is the root of the issue, but folks suggest the Or4 is spectrum adjustable.

Here are the exact dimentions of the cord end of an OR4 120

OR4’s are only dimmable, you can’t control individual colors within the bar. I have OR3 and 4’s in all of their color combinations other than the freshwater version if you have any other questions.

Going to mention the meridian again I’ve confirmed it’s passive cooled and silent. The new app is more controllable than ever, and they made the light more usable, omitting the red and blue diodes and replacing with more white, blue, and near uv

A single Meridian 35 or 45 would light that tank and be fully customizable and reviews/testing have started and very positive. The 24 is easily putting out over 1000 par at the surface and 500 at the sandbed. While this is more than most of us will ever want or need, it means these lights are powerful, and only need to be run around 40% which will prolong the life of the diodes and the unit overall.

1 light, 999, would cover that tank perfectly and silently and they are now in stock and ready to ship

I’ve done extensive research on lights and I agree Orphek is a great choice but these are worth being in mix

It uses fans..how often they go on is ?
The majority of the Meridians cooling is handled passively via its aluminum heat sink. When more cooling is needed, the variable speed temperature controlled cooling fans provide active cooling. In addition to being nearly silent, the fans are IP67 waterproof, and are fully isolated from the lights internal components.

I talked to rb a few days ago about it to get an actual answer. It’s not mentioned on the website. RB told me they are for emergency overheat situations only. The light is passive cooled and the fans don’t come on normally. Just like my photon. Except these fans are upgraded and water resistant

My quote was from the Reef breeders we site .

Guess it's open to interpretation.
Regardless this is cool.

They added that to the website because I asked them to, and pointed out in our convo that nothing is mentioned about the fans, or cooling, and told them passive cooling is a selling point for consumers and we want the info. I brought this up out of conversation / questions in this thread.

“When more cooling is needed” is nicer way to say its close to hitting a dangerous temp for some reason. The fans also are upgrades and “ultra silent”. They have the thermostat kick in before it gets to a dangerous point but it’s to prevent an issue. The light is fully designed to use passive cooling and the fan only comes on to prevent a problem as safety measure

There was more from the convo about the light which will be publicized soon that I don’t feel comfortable sharing, but I will say this…I’m happy with my photon, I HAD zero interest in upgrading to a Meridian, and now I’m completely sold on them.

the photon v1 and v2 were evergrows with some led swaps and usa based support. I asked if Meridian is a rebrand or original design…it’s a complete original model created by rb and they are the only ones who make it world wide
