Since dispensing with my 450 SPS tank last year, I no longer ‘qualify’ for the monster tank forum. Wouldn’t want to be a member of a forum that have me as a member anyhow . So figured I’d start a new thread.

Something appealing to me in a softie tank. Dead easy of course, but that’s how I started in the hobby 40 years ago.

I'm really in love with this tank, can you please give us as much details as possible! I don't see a tank build thread unfortunately.

You can check out my 450 tank build; there are details for this tank there.

Looks like prime real estate for a couple of Biota's Lyretail Damsels. I know you like Damsels and these are on sale :) I have 11 of them and they are fun. I know you love damsels too as you can a ton in the 450.

Soft coral tanks are beautiful. Great job.

It might not be a monster tank anymore, but those are some monster softies!

What are your plans for it?
Cruise control, mostly. I suppose a neat softie frag or two might be nice, but that's about it.

I kept 15 damsels out of the 50+ that had lived in my 450. 2 roland, 3 talbot, 3 azure, and the rest YT. Probably should have kept the starki and dispensed with the albons.

When I had this tank made, my original plan was to use an aftermarket overflow like Modular Marine. Tank builder talked me into getting one integrated with the tank where the slots are cut into the rear panel obviating the need for an internal skim box. Best overflow I have ever had .... and it is not close. If you are having an acrylic tank made, do this :)

This is the route I went with my current display although it is a peninsula. The only thing I would change is a smooth weir and coast to coast regardless of the side it is on. This is the second display I've had with teeth on the overflow and have to say I'm not a fan.

Is this a new display?

It's the day my current tank was delivered .... 3 years ago. I don't mind teeth because I don't push a ton of water through the sump.

I did yes. However, 110 is now gone and I’m officially retired from the hobby. Late career promotion with more and more post pandemic business travel//speaking gigs made the tank more burden than inspiration. I will miss the opportunities to offer unsolicited opinions and dispense bad advice - though I suppose not actually having a tank hasn’t stopped others from doing both

Oh wow. That seems crazy to me. Some days I want shut my tank down entirely too. But not having a tank at the moment does not change that you have a lot of experience, and can share that with people who are willing to listen.

At least you are still here to offer advice!
