Size of blue legged hermit crab?

I know right?!? I was annoyed rummaging through the ones at LFS coz I couldn’t find what I wanted. Then it occurred to me: I have a jar full of various sizes and shapes in my bathroom!!!! My hermits love em too. No complaints. Happy thrifting

I'm a librarian in the real world -- I would put this in the 364's section -- true crime. Which is essentially serial killers and complete crazy people. I think your aquatic friend officially falls into that category.

He used to be so sweet and innocent. Then as soon as he became the biggest - total change. It went to his head (I assume he’s a he).

I did buy some from Amazon, but the first chosen shell was one from my daughter’s daycare ‘art’ project .

That’s just it - I have loads of shells, but he still harasses the smaller crabs and snails. If he gets much bigger it will be the fish he harasses

Based on my experience with the one I recently purchased, I believe blue legged hermit crabs seem to want to get in any shell they can, so I would suspect they’re very opportunistic and will kill any snail or other hermit crab that they can just to check their shell out. They might try on a shell for a couple hours just to crawl back into their old shell. Mine has changed shells three times since I put him in the tank about two weeks ago. He’ll go from a very large shell to a very small shell to a medium sized shell that he’ll wear for only a few hours then back again to an appropriately sized shell. Weird little crabs, but I like my blue leg’s spunk so I might buy more.

Also, Hobby Lobby has shells for really cheap. I bought three packs of different sizes of over 100 shells for about $12. I boiled them for 10 mins then threw probably 20 or so in the tank.
