Stocking ideas (and combinations) for my 10 gallon

Hello from Australia,
I recently set up a 10 gallon and here’s some options (fish-wise) my LFS gave me

- Six line wrasse
- Ocellaris Clowns
- GBR blenny
- Clown Goby (Yellow or Green)
- Bicolour Blenny*
- Bangai or Pyjama Cardinal*
- Dottybacks (Splendid, Purple Stripe, Royal)
- Basslets (Black Cap, Royal Gramma)**
- Amblyeleotris + Pistol Shrimp**

I also talked to a local collector and he was able to find:
- Blue Stripe Fang Blenny*
- Rotund Blenny
- Green Shoulder Goby*

Any possible combinations anyone could suggest or other fish (which are legal and common in Australia) that I could possibly purchase?​

* These fish may be a bit large for my system
** These fish costs $150 ($100US) or more

I do also have experience previously in saltwater so I’m up for a challenging fish as well. There is also a 3L refugium along with which will soon be connected to this system. The filter is an ocellaris 400.

The Occelaris and Sixline Wrasse will get too big for this tank - Occelaris attain a max size of 4 inches and sixlines are going to be too active.

I would personally go for the GBR Blenny and the Amblyeleotris + Pistol Shrimp pairing as they’re so unusual to watch.

How about the Dracula or Black Rayed Shrimp Gobies?

Honestly, I would say most of them get too large or aren’t compatible with other fish;

I would only pick one Blenny and not several unless it’s a communal species.
And then the gobies I’d probably go for the clown gobies as their personalities are adorable.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind. One last thing, if there were any you’d recommend on the collector’s list (doesn’t matter if it ‘s not reef safe or it’s the only fish in the tank) what would it be? I’m a big fan of native fish.

Ah yeah, a 10 gallon is so limited with saltwater fish. In a 20 you could do clowns and a goby/blenny of some kind, 10 is just tiny for the fish youre asking about and thats available!

I’ve attached a 3L refugium but I don’t think that will help tbh.

Yeah no, more about the space for the fish. You would be okay with baby clowns for a little while but would need to upgrade when they get bigger to keep them happy

Ok, I get what you’re saying

a 10 gallon can fit 1, maybe 2 fish, I would stick with a goby since they don't swim much. A 10 gallon is really too small for any fish that likes to swim (no wrasses, damsels or dottybacks). A 15 or a 20 gallon would give you more options.

You’d probably be okay with a shrimp goby/ pistol shrimp pair and a yellow clown goby in a ten. Green clowns and citron clowns get a little larger than the yellow clown. So I’d make sure it’s an actual yellow clown goby.

I know very little about most of what your collector can get but if you could find green BANDED gobies, you could possibly handle a trio of those.

As a single fish, rainfordi goby if you can find one. You just need a decently deep sand bed and a good amount of exposed sand. You’ll get a little swimming out of the rainfordi and watching them sift the sand bed through their gills is entertaining. Mine stay on or near the bottom part of the day and get in the column to pick at rocks as well.
