Hello All,

So I’m getting to the point of completion of my frame/skeleton of the tank build. I’m wanting to skin it with hard woods I’m thinking purple heart as the primary color. But I’m looking for a secondary color to go with it that be good. If any major wood workers could give me some input it would be great thanks in advance! Pic below was of stand a few days ago, will post more as I get the leg braces on this am.

No offense, but your stand scares me. The vertical 2x4 should be on top and under the horizontal 2x4. You are expecting nails or screws to hold a lot of weight for a long time. That usually fails.

Just add 2x4's to the existing ones (under top frame, on top of bottom frame) and you'll be fine.

FWIW, purple heart turns a darkish brown after a couple years. Spendy, also. But to contrast it, a light color wood like maple would be nice. Walnut veneer plywood would be a good alternative to purple heart, cheaper I bet, also.

What's the metal edging you used for tbe panels ? This might be the route I go I like the look of tbe APS and waterbox stands and not sure how to recreate it with plywood but this looks good too.
