In 2004 I went to French Polynesia to help set up a Maxima clam farm (shown in above pics) and we regularly import those cultured Maxima clams. Over the years we have handled many thousand of clams. Maxima clams are true gems of the seas, their colors are amazing!

I have attempted to help educate hobbyists about proper handling and care of clams. You can check some of the videos I've posted here previously. Here's one example

Our clams are the healthiest and most colorful for several reasons.
1. Directly imported to us from the farm we helped set up.
2. Farm is certified parasite free.
3. Detailed inspection procedures to select the best clams at the farm prior to export.
4. Packing and shipping from the farm to us is done in a precise manner.
5. Shipments arrive to our airport about 1am, rather than further stressing the clams shipments are picked up and acclimated immediately--literally an all night process we gladly and lovingly do each and every shipment--this is our passion.
6. Every clam is individually inspected in detail, hand scrubbed, and acclimated to a variety of lighting from our grenhouse to metal halide to LED.
7. Clams are placed upon rubble for easy and safe removal for shipment to you.
8. Clams are held prior to offering for sale.
9. Every clam is inspected and cleaned prior to sending to you.
10. We follow up with every customer to be sure you are satisfied.

Here is an older video showing Tongan clams, but has some good additional clam care info

I have promised one to my son. I'm concerned the lights in my tank won't be adequate for one yet. Old school stock Biocube CP.

You will need good lighting, moderate flow and filter feeding foods such as phyto, oyster eggs, etc. they don’t always stay in place so a little running room

I'm good on everything except lighting. I'd have to place him higher in the tank.

What's the shipping schedule look like with the holiday?

We will start shipping again after the first of the year. Just too much volume in the system this time of year and the higher potential for delays. We will be running our annual end of the year sale and holding orders and scheduling shipping after the new year.

This one is actually my favorite. When you see thousands of clams I guess you become a color snob. It has a rainbow of colors, but a slightly deformed shell so the mantle does not fully extend all the time. I did not post it for sale, I guess it will become an in-house pet.
