I brought the Minnow Dosing Pump online today. It’s set to dose 10ml of Nopox once per day. It was pretty easy to set up but not quite as intuitive as I thought it would be. You have to prime the pump manually, which is fine, but that wasn’t one of the steps in the setup process. That’s definitely something Coralvue could improve on. The other thing that hung me up for a little bit was trying to figure out which side of the dosing head was the input and which was the output. Seems stupid, I know, but I have never used a dosing pump before so I had no prior experience to draw upon. A diagram in the online instructions with the basic layout would be helpful for dosing newbies like me. I finally found a diagram in one of Carlos and David’s YouTube videos for the X10 so that helped. They could have made it much easier though. Minor complaint, I figured it out.
I set the doser on the 25ml per minute speed and proceeded to calibrate the dosing head. The setup wizard told me to have a beaker that holds at least 38ml and that the doser would run for one minute. You then look at the amount dosed to the beaker and put that amount in to the App and you’re calibrated. I did it three times and got 17ml of fluid in the beaker each time. I was expecting 25ml in one minute so this was a lower result than expected. I don’t really care as long as it dispenses the 10ml it’s set up for. I’ll find out tomorrow morning. I’m going to catch the first dose in the beaker and see if it’s accurate at 10ml. So far, so good.

What video was it that explains the x10? I'll be setting my minnow up soon!

It’s this one.

I just scrolled through it until a diagram of the pump came up, I think around the 18 minute timeframe. Once I verified which side of the pump was the inlet I bailed so I’m not sure how helpful it is. I hardly watched any of it. I would assume there’s some good info in there. I had a hard time finding any Minnow specific info online. There’s people on the forum that are deeply immersed with Hydros who I’m sure would be helpful if tagged in for questions.

Minnow dosing mission successful this morning, sort of. I have it set for a 10ml dose and the doser turned on promptly at 8:45am as it should have. According to the App it dosed 8.3ml, not 10ml. I caught what it dispensed in the little dosing cup that comes with the Nopox. It was right on the 10ml line so that’s good. I’m not really sure if I set up the Minnow doser right or not. It seems like it’s doing what it’s supposed to do but the app is reporting a lower amount dosed than what it actually dosed. I’m going to continue to watch it for a few days and see how it goes.

Hope you weren't affected by the power outage. My brother in law just dropped all his tank inhabitants off with me. He has another estimated 3 days without power.
That’s not good news. I hope his power is restored ASAP.
Luckily we are unaffected so far. We didn’t really even see the higher winds and usually at my house the wind can get going pretty good. We had to have a few trees in the wetlands behind my back fence taken down a couple of years ago because they were potentially a danger to our house. One did come down and took out a section of our back fence.

Don’t really want this to happen again.

That’s great you were able to help him out and save his livestock.

Great tank idea! I love the full sized AIO. Now design a glass version and partner with someone to get those to market and you would have a goldmine on your hands.

Following along to see your build progress.

Thank you, that’s nice of you to say. I’ve been following your build as well. That new scape you subbed in is really cool.

I really like the full sized AIO a lot but there are some changes I would make if I had a do over. I’m ready to partner with the great @Joe Glass Cages anytime to go global with a glass version of this design though, lol.

I think you're the only other person besides myself that still reads my build LOL. Its a shame though, since there is a ton of information in there that can be useful...

But yeah, I really dig the new scape a lot more! It has a ton more coral spots than the previous rocks and i am excited to see it fill in.

And I hear great things about Glass Cages tanks! I am actually in the process of making a 24x24 lagoon tank in my home office, so I need to reach out to them for a quote. Initially I just got a bigger stand (from AluFab as well) to fit my sump in easier and was going to plop back my 18 inch cube, but then thought that it would be a waste to have that unused space.

It does seem that way sometimes right. There’s more eyes on it than you think, though. It’s just that most people don’t comment. I think I wrote this same thing in my previous build thread but I never really thought about people commenting on my build thread when I began it. I just started it as a way to document what I was doing. I’m sure there would be a lot I would have forgotten about if I hadn’t written it down somewhere. Not a whole lot of people are watching this thread but I always appreciate when people comment because it just makes it more fun. If anyone got something useful out of my nonsense along the way then that’s great, glad I could help, lol.

It really does look great and if it’s more functional now that’s even better. More spots for coral is always good.

Love my Alufab stand. Could not be happier with it.
You should absolutely get a quote from Glass Cages. I’ve never heard a bad word about them since Joe took over. I wish I would have gotten a quote from him for my current tank. My tank was originally supposed to be made by Tenecor. That fell through for reasons I can’t really go too deeply into and I had to switch gears. I thought I was on the right track with Advanced Acrylics, and my tank did turn out great, but the overall stress of dealing with the delays and radio silence left such a bad taste. I don’t think anyone has those kinds of issues with Glass Cages.
