Thinking a Biocellatus may be the route I go, sort of coming around on the Leucoxanthus too.

Is a Melanurus not a viable candidate? Such a pretty fish.
Melanurus:

Halichoeres claudia:

Less blues and oranges, but still quite pretty and higher odds of being peaceful. Lots of cases of peaceful melanurus on here, too, so you can always play the odds!

Biocellatus for comparison (similar in temperament category to claudia):

Trading the light green for deeper red.

Need some help guys/gals!

Best way to remove Halichoeres from tank? Already drain halfway, remove big rocks but he went under the sand. I have a general idea where it’s at. But would it get hurt if I go digging?

I got a large net and placed it above the sand and ran my hand gently through the sand. When the leucoxanthus popped up he was in the net. It stressed him as little as possible that way. When I transferred to the other tank he buried for about a half an hour and then he was out and swimming like nothing happened.

Noted! I will employ your method for moving the sand sleepers during the tank transfer.

Thank you! I was more stressed than it, but I did manage to get him out. I lowered the water level and wave makers closer to the sand as I was worried about oxygen not knowing how long it will take to get him out. He eventually poked his head off and then came completely out of the sand. I waited and then was able to trap it with a plastic container. It was totally stressed out, breathing heavy in the new tank, eventually calm down and was out and about until a few minutes ago that went to bed. He decided to sleep next to the clam as his safety spot.

Old buddies, I got them both at the same time and were in the same tank until the redfin jumped thru the mesh.

Any suggestions for another good wrasse?
The earmuffs are teddy bears but get big and intimidating so makes it hard for me to ingest others that sleep in the sand. You interested in a fairy a few?
If you want to stick to sand sleeping wrasse Adorned, radiant and the H. Yellow are chill.

I need something with striking colors that aren’t orange or red. I already have 11 lyretail anthias.

That’s hard as wrasse tend to be red/orange. Part of why I never had a group of lyretails as I was addicted to wrasse.
H. Adorned H. Yellow might work and nice splash of color. It will be a risk adding to your other guys. How big is the tank? More sand sleepers could be few to many adding new ones so a flasher and a fairy might be better.

Would like to hear others opinions as I’m more on safe side
