Likely a snail if you can see something in the opening. They do occasionally come as hitchhikers or spawn in tank. I doubt it’s a hermit, but possibly?

yesterday I put 3 blue legged hermits (along with 2 extra shells) in my tank. I don’t rly see anything in the shell, the second pic is an upside down view. Maybe it’s empty or maybe he’s hiding

It’s possible it’s a really tiny hermit, if you’re unsure put it someplace it wont move on its own and see if it moves. Hermits are very good at getting far enough back that you can’t see them, I’ve hard large ones that can do it as well and sometimes when they molt it can be confusing because the molts look like dead crabs and and you can’t see them In the shell. Either way I would just leave it in the tank, I personally love seeing tiny shells in the sandbed.

I did do this last night, it hasn’t moved. I’m assuming it’s an empty shell
