I went to Houston Aquarium design group retail store today. Looking for some help on either getting a custom built tank or 150-200G tanks what they recommend.

They had a Ultum Nature System R-150 set up and it looked great love the stand and tank itself.

I’m looking for people with experience with this set up. I can’t find any threads with this build.

Never heard of them before. Like the idea of the metal frame for the stand. Don't like the idea of the drawer taking up space which is usually at a premium. I would get estimates from Glass Cages who are great to work with. If you want to compare it to a high end tank, you can build your own at "Custom Aquarium's" website that will give you a price to compare it to. Good luck!

yeah i was thinking about looking into planet aquarium or glass cages. I just get a little overwhelmed with all the options. Maybe I can just use this tank and sump area for a reference. The tank is very nice I saw one set up at Aquarium Design Group in Houston. I love how much room you have under the stand itself to store away all cords and equipment. No needed for an extra storage/shelfs next to the tank in order to keep everything looking neat.

We recently got the UNS R90 from ADG. It's obviously smaller than the 150 they have in display but the layout, build, and the electrical cabinet idea are in essence the same. I came across your question here by trying to find out other users or threads with the same, or at least similar, tank and as you very well point out: there aren't any.
The reef line seems to be relatively new to UNS and I think that's the reason why there aren't many reviews or information from other users. I think I'll start documenting my tank build as a way to share the experience and maybe contact other possible users.

For now I'll share some ideas based on our experience, positive and negatives:
- Very neat looking, no equipment hanging from the tank and when the cover panels are on it's all neatly covered and contained
- Love the panels: detaching them and attaching them is super easy with the magnets and you have full access to the sump when needed, without bars in the middle or doors restricting your move
- Although we like the electrical cabinet space idea, the actual execution of placing controllers and all equipment in there did not work for us. This is mainly because of the size and amount of equipment we have (Neptune Systems) so we ended up placing controllers and power bars in a separate cabinet and left only dosing systems in the UNS cabinet. The R150 has a bigger cabinet size but I think it still would have been a little challenging for us to cram everything in there.
- The ATO container is well built but pretty heavy, big, and it sits on top of the refugium/biomedia chamber cover. Accesing the refugium or biomedia chamber requires moving the ATO container aside and at this point we are limited to submersible refugium lights if we want to set up a refugium. Right now we're using media in that chamber. I believe the setup is pretty much the same in the 150.

There's more to say but I think it'll be easier to upload more detailed pictures to my tank thread and answer specific questions. Overall we like it, I'm a little worried about how "new" the line is and how little information is available yet but hopefully as time goes by there will be more feedback. Let me know if you have specific questions I can try to answer.

Congratulations on the tank set up! Looks great.
I’m ended up going with a larger system and ordering a waterbox reef lx 290.6.

Uns tanks look amazing, but like you said with the little amount of information out there I decided to go with waterbox. Also I mean I went a lot larger than originally planned lol. Tank is around 213G taking glass thickness into account + 60G sump.

Sadly though I ordered and waterbox uses FedEx freight….. horrific company. They “lost” my waterbox tank and stand that weighs 645lbs together… and can’t get any information on where the hell it is. Was suppose to be delivered Thursday.

Tank is looking great! We tried to find a good balance between ample space in the electrical box without sacrificing on sump volume space. The electrical box is more suited for smaller power supplies, pump controllers, and excess wires, as the Neptune dosing pumps are a bit too large to be used in the box.

We are working on a refugium light that will be released in the next two months that will sit on the underside of the third chamber, I will attach a picture of that below. This is a newer product line for us, and we are working hard to get more info out to the public. I know there isn't too much information out there yet, but if you guys had any questions about it, I would be more than happy to assist.

Thank you!
I totally understand going with a bigger option, we were very tempted to get the 150 version but had to restrain ourselves with realistic expectations.
I hope FedEx "finds" your shipment soon and delivers it intact. Looking forward to seeing it set up!

Thank you for contacting and reaching out! I wasn't sure if you are part of the UNS team and if it'd be ok to contact with questions like this. It's great to have come across you here!
The refugium light in progress looks neat, and a perfect fit. We've noticed there are holes in the lid with very specific distances and figured it'll be for a light but we couldn't find any commercially available with those dimensions. Excited to see it available and I'm sure we'll get it as soon as it's in the market!
Thank you again for the insight to the work in progress!

Very nice quality, very expensive as the size goes up. I’ve had several freshwater tanks up to about 20gal over the years and they’ve been nothing but stellar

I never considered them for saltwater, because saltwater tanks just get ‘cruddier’ and I felt that premium clean look of a UNS would be irrelevant after a little age on the tank

Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my Waterbox20 and while I did have a shortlist containing the Cade600 and the Waterbox60.2, I recently came across a thread and video of Parker showing the R60. The tank and stand look great!

This brings me to my question ... I live in France and I have a hard time finding local retailers, let alone ones that sell the new reef line of products. Would you be able to point in the right direction so I can perhaps go and see the tank in a store?

Thanks!

OK much appreciated, several of those are within driving distance, and Zoanthus is a great retailer a little further out with excellent delivery options. I'll check it out!

You're correct... UNS reef systems have not yet made their way to Europe. However, the following retailers in France may be able to put in a special order for you.

Hi, UNS Reef tanks look amazing. What about retailers in other parts of Europe? Finland/Sweden/Denmark?

Ultum Nature System's distribution partner is European Aquaristics in Germany. Their list of retailers is available here: https://europeanaquaristics.com/en/our-distributors/

If your favorite local retailer would like to offer UNS in thier store, they should reach out to EA for a wholesale account.
