Clowns are a little less active today and still not eating, hopefully they’re just still acclimating and will eat soon. I’m picking up some frozen food that might be more enticing.

Installed a VCA RFG on the return today (just need to upgrade to Axis 40 for a bit more flow)

Jebao MCP-70, Caribsea Special grade sand and a custom acrylic media basket for the first chamber on the way for the tank.

Looks great! For media I’m using a ReefnRolls fleece roller. Also got a bag of carbon that I replace every 4 weeks. I used to run a Tunze DOC9001 skimmer, but removed it as I never really felt it was doing much.

Thanks mate! Yeah I’d be pretty keen to eventually try get a roller in the back somehow.

Added in substrate and gyre today!

Tank still a little cloudy but happy with how it’s looking and the grain size definitely doesn’t seem to move as much as Fiji pink.

Any tips on keeping sand bed clean would be much appreciated, I originally went BB to prevent algae but wasn’t happy with the look. Wish I had have added an acrylic sheet on the bottom before.

The MCP-70 is so far so good! Pretty happy with it considering it was $160AUD and it’s giving great flow on lowest setting and it’s silent.

Interestingly found an Aiptasia on one the CUC snails too!

Ohh nah just going bare can’t stand algae on sand.

I’ve only dosed the Dr Tim’s One and Only and the Ammonia Chloride but it said should clear up within 24-48 hours.

I am looking at getting skimmer just hard with the AIO real estate that I have.

I have a peninsula 25 too you should be able to fit a bubble magus mini q in there somewhere even with that bracket.

Yellow goby w/ pistol shrimp pair will do well.

Great scape potential. I had my hairy mushrooms grow into my cheap man's carpet nem and my clowns love it.

I don't run a skimmer but a tunze refugium light in middle chamber. Display has lots of live rock but chamber 1 also bioballs, 1x genesis rock and carbon. Dose all for reef and top up RO manually as I have a lid in winter to keep the evap down.

35% water changes bi weekly and it's a thriving tank.

I got 3x sexy shrimp and they are fun to watch, as well a fire goby and plenty of snails and a big blue legged hermit crab.

Sicce nano return, a jebao wavemaker set to pulse on/off and ai blade but you'll have great growth with your xr. I ran the xr on the nano and it was stunning but wife hated the light spill.

Yeah the Radion is going great so far, got a diffuser on it so the light spill isn’t bad at all.

Waiting for the dry rock to mature for a while before adding any coral, would love for everything to stabilise first!

Think the ugly phase is coming! Starting to see lots of orange/brown algae on rockwork, although nothing too bad at all on glass or sand.

Thanks mate! Yeah I’d never seen them, very similar to the yellow-tail just get a lot more of the yellow through the body (supposedly less aggressive too).
