What king of mushrooms are these?

A friend give me this colony of beautiful mushrooms. Anybody can ID the species for me? The whole colony is 3 inches in diameter so each is between 1-2 inches. TIA

Just wanted to say this doesn’t exist, I believe you’re thinking of the Ricordea genua which has 2 species known so far, Ricordea yuma and Ricordea florida. Both are beautiful (Arguably, more beautiful than Rhodactis species are when they bubble up).

My Mushrooms have the elongated distinctive tentacles on the edge which I normally don’t see in usual Yuma or Florida.
And I am an “expert” on soft corals and mushroom.

The best photo I have of my Yumas is an FTS… when they bubble up I do see a small resemblance between them and your Rhodactis however looking at where they are in the tank I’d say you definitely have a Rhodactis species.

Here’s a close up of one of my 6-7 mother mushrooms that when fully open aren’t shy to hit that 6-7” diameter (one is around 8”).

And no… I don’t know how I got them to bubble, put it this way mine love everything that people say they hate from high light to direct flow. They are in a spot where they get both direct (from the wave maker) and also the backlash of flow from it hitting the glass.

I have been reading on these mushrooms. I think they are not Ricordea florida or Ricordea yuma. It is possible that they are an undescribed Ricordea sp. However, looking deeper, I think they may be one of the Discossma species. I will research and try to ID this colony to a more reasonable identification.

Most reefers are terrible at correctly ID scientific names for various animal that we keep, especially invertebrates. Discosoma and Ricordea are two separate genus and sometime people. Can’t have both name on the animal

Rhodactis has the warty skirt. Forget ricordea. You're mushroom rock has 0 ricordea sp.

I am fairy confident that it is a Discosoma sp. mushroom. What species, I am not certain yet. Maily because I cannot trust the name from the websites, I find pictures of these mushrooms.

Yours are much more likely to be Rhodactis than they are to be Discosoma.
Discosoma have a much smoother skirt to what yours have.
Here’s 4 different species together;
Top right = R. florida
Middle (background) = Discosoma sp.
Middle (foreground) = R. yuma
Bottom = juvenile Rhodactis sp.

As you can kind of tell, Rhodactis are much more warty whereas Discosoma is a smoother base with little to no bumps at all.

rhodactis mushroom 100%
They come in every color.

Edit: above post, I was trying to explain an easy way to tell discosoma apart from rhodactis.

Yes, this is a Rhodactis and looks almost identical to the mushrooms @OrionN has.

Thanks a million. I see that they are indeed some Rhodactis species. I always want to find out about the animals I keep so I will search and see if I can find come up with the species name of the mushroom. If I do I will update this thread.
