I have a bunch of 3030 extrusion arriving this weekend and I need to get a metal blade for my saw. I know I need metal blade with more teeth than not and carbine tipped but would the extrusions fall under light, medium or heavy metal? I am assuming medium-light but wanted to double check before dropping $40+ on a blade!

Regular blades cut aluminum just fine. You can get a finish blade with more teeth if you want but not necessary.
I agree, you can easily cut aluminum on a regular table saw or miter saw with a carbide tipped wood blade.

Good luck!

Good to know thanks! Not sure if my current blades are carbide top or not I'll have to check in the morning.

It should say so right on the blade, and you can see the little “tips” on the blade, but don’t rely on just that.

Go slowly, wear eye protection, and maybe gloves; be careful. But it does work well. I’ve cut aluminum T-track for my woodworking shop on woodworking saws with typical carbide tipped woodworking blades no problem.

Good luck!
