Where you all headed this Thanksgiving? Any last minute reef prep chores to get that last minute peace of mind?

We have a 3.5 hour drive to where both my and my wife's parents live. They are 6 minutes from each other... so we must visit both sides whenever we go for a visit. Usually between folks and extended family we ge 4 thanksgivings. This year we just got 3 little kittens(i know, wife has a soft spot and didnt want to split them up) whonare going to come with to add to the chaos. Too little to comfortably leave for multiple days.

The reef is going to be slick though. Clean the power heads, drain the skimmer cup and adjust down a bit, top up the ato tank, and top off the auto feeder, then forget all about it (read *fret about and check camera often) lol

We've been doing TG at my house for 18 years. But the last two, I've been cooking and bringing everything to my wife's Mom's house a half mile down the road. So that's where we're going! A LONG trip. 0.5 miles!
I love doing it like that so I can leave when I want instead of having to wait for everyone to leave.
I'll be sitting right here where it's nice and quiet.

Is not a trout.

I have cancelled all holidays and wondering if my wife will still make a turkey, or not?
First we eat their pumpkins and venison and then we steal their land.
Rarely do we give Thanks.

Good for everyone who finds peace over the seasons. Shalom.

After their land, we steal their memes. Even if they fail ichthyology. Couldn't find the emotional support tang, or emotional support bristle worm...

I'm headed to the dining room table, weather permitting. My wife and I are hosting immediate family only this year....three kids and significant others with two grandkids, for a total of nine mouths to feed....the smallest Thanksgiving we've ever had....but now even smaller. We got a call from our daughter that their youngest....2 years old....has an infectious disease she got from daycare and won't be coming....so now down to 5 mouths for Thanksgiving. We started eating pies tonight because my wife had purchased enough food to feed the Fifth Fleet.

I like your family decisions. Eating pie in the face of a feast is a daring move that almost certainly ensures that the best part of the meal does not go to waste! YOu are a great American!

That seems to be the way of it. Someone always has to be sick for thanksgiving. Hope she gets well soon! Bet she is bummed to miss out on time with grandpa. And that pie.

My wife works on Thanksgiving so nothing going on that day. I was hoping to be in my kayak fishing, but it looks like the weather will be trash. So I guess I'll catch up on some school work instead. Maybe I can get enough done so I can go this weekend instead. Then on Friday we will drive about a mile and a half to her grandmothers to have dinner with her family.

I am actually hoping that I can get my wife to go with me to a Free Thanksgiving Meal for the less fortunate sometime before I leave this planet. I don't like the entire process and execution of the Thanksgiving Holiday and have never seen a need for most of the meal, especially Pumpkin Pie. (Pumpkin pie is a wasted jack-o-latern.)

I am fine with other folks doing this holiday if they must but I am content to eat lightly and go to bed early without a bloated digestive tract. We already got a Christmas Tree. That was a tactical move to divert her attention from the fact that we were not going to have family joining us and hopefully prevent the exhausting waste of a day preparing a feast for 2. I'm fine with a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and an icecream cone for lunch in place of the stuffing of stuffing and dry farmed bird flesh that tastes the same as the feathers under most preparational conditions.

Dunked in a bucket of boiling fat, baked in the oven or in a crematory, they all lack culinary honors that an honest chef would raise over roadkill. It's such a national dissapointment that the country has created Black Friday to divert peoples attention to the futility of the day.

That sounds like a great morning just postponed a few days.

I'm actually going to work, wife will put the turkey in the oven and I'll be home by 4 pm, guests with sides arriving around 5 pm. Thankfully I don't have to drive, but my folks will be driving from Mass to Vermont over ski country tomorrow. Where I live there won't be much snow, but expecting several inches in the mountains.

LOL, if we're having it at my house and I get a little tired of it, I just duck out and go take a nap, watch TV in my (inside) music room or whatnot. And the family generally doesn't stay that long. Only once did it go from 2PM to midnight. Card games, music, I was young, lol, that day was great!
