With the wildfires in California and the snowstorm blowing through America, I hope everyone is staying safe!

I just wanted to do a check-in post for everyone. California has been slammed by a terrible wildfire recently, and most of the Middle East and soon-to-be South are experiencing snow storms. I'm hoping and praying everyone is remaining safe, everyone's tanks are still running just fine, and this has been an incredible start to the New Year for everyone! For anyone affected by the disaster of a wildfire/ or snowstorm, how are you doing? Or if the snow has not impacted you but is soon to be, how are you preparing for it, or how are you going to take advantage of the snow coming to your area?

I'm getting my 2200 generator ready just in case. Reef tank, Koi pond, shrimp tank, and two planted tanks will be safe. My beer will be worm if the power goes out for too long. lol

Besides the lack of funds, not having a proper backup plan has kept me from getting a large tank. Ha5rd enough keeping it going when electricity abundant and house temps within reason. Have experienced three outages. Only one while having a tank and that was a 29 SW where I had access to my parents to temporarily house the fish. No such option exists today and tank planned doesn't fit in a couple of buckets. I have already enough stress in my life.

We got the most snow we've seen from one storm in more than a decade. Never lost power though, so I'm calling it a success. I will say that they've somehow made snow seem heavier than it was the last time I had to shovel that much

I live in LA. The smoke is so intense you can’t see the sun it looks like another world here right now.

We got lucky here. Only about 7" of snow and it's not too terribly cold yet. Prayers for the parts of the country that are not so lucky.

Everyone should own at least an inexpensive air bubbler. I drop it them in the tanks whenever I go away as a precaution. UPS pumps flow for almost 3 hours.

I dont disagree....but this one is better......No UPS needed and upto 24 hours life

oh no. the UPS is to run the powerhead water pump. I use a a kedsun air pump similar to that hygger. plug into outlet and turns on when power goes off.

I’m about 80 miles from the fires, so no direct impact to me (thankfully), though the wind has been insane through here. The big tree that used to be standing in my front yard is now lying on my front yard, so I now have plans this w/e. And the snow normally would have had zero impact, but my Battlecorals shipment is gonna be a day late.

Certainly considering the actual difficulties that others are going through, I can’t complain.
