I'm looking at a fresh import gigantea and pictures of the foot show some tiny filaments coming out from, I assume, tiny tears. Not too bad right now but I am concerned that this could get worse with the stress of shipping. I've not had luck before with any anemone that has tears in its foot, let alone a gigantea, but.....
Have you had success bringing back a gig in this condition with treatment?
Thanks!

They are hard enough to find and it's always going to be a gamble. Id go for it. Have antibiotics ready. I used cipro and amoxicillin for nems

The nem can heal itself you don't need to treat the wounds directly. Just treating any subsequent infections if they pop up.

Gigantea in particular never fare well when their mesenterial filaments are exposed, especially from the foot. I have never seen a gig recover from a wound or illness that exposed the filaments. Fortunately, I don't see any in the photos. So, it comes down to how much it costs and how much of a dent it'll put in your wallet and if you can stomach it, and if you have the time and energy to properly QT it.

The problem is that the injury compounds the issue and makes the anemone more susceptible to infection. Some have done iodine dips to clean the wound and have claimed success (I've never done it). Again, with injuries to a gig, since they're so prone to infection, I'd pass on any that are injured. The odds of survival are slim with ones that appear to be healthy, and adding an injury drops down the success rate to nearly zero.

Id agree with that 100% I only have experience with ritteri/magnificas and I've never had one that showed up with a tear live, even with treatment.
